Here at the Underground Donut Tour, we love ALL donuts––but Chicago is our hometown, and Chicago Donuts have a special place in our heart. Come join us in celebrating the vibrant food culture in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood on our new West Loop Donuts & Pastry Tour.
The tour begins at a classic shop, synonymous for all Chicagoans with quality donuts––Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken. From there we’ll walk the Randolph corridor, learning about the history of Chicago’s West Loop, a historic neighborhood which has gone through a series of revitalizations since its days as the industrial backbone of the City of Big Shoulders. We’ll sample the wacky, matcha-infused creations of a hidden-gem––the super aesthetic, Matcha-Cita cafe, where you’ll definitely need to pause for a photo-op! We’ll enjoy the over-the-top (and somewhat risque) donut stylings of a newcomer shop trying to break onto the scene, Voodoo Donuts, a Portland transplant featuring indulgent flavors and unexpected toppings. Finally, we’ll stroll through a magical, old-time brickwork alley laden with beautiful, floral street-art, before emerging on the other side at our final location––Sawada Coffee, owned by the world renown latte artist, Hiroshi Sawada. Throughout our journey, we’ll provide anecdotes and history of each of the locations, the surrounding neighborhood as well as Chicago history in general. There’s plenty of time for bonding, team building, joking around, and enjoying the company of your friends and family. The tour is about 2 hours long, and you’ll walk a leisurely-paced 2 miles.
Tours run many days of the week and several times a day, but this tour often sells out, so make sure to book your tickets today!
