The only thing that was abit disruptive was building work going on just next to the hotel. Oh and the veggie sausages at morning breakfast werent the best.apart from that realy mice stay

We had a situation with our room after a late arrival, the situation was handled poorly on the initial complaint in our opinion. The situation was resolved eventually but after a unnecessary amount of time and upset.

Fab hotel in beautiful york
Lovely hotel have visited many times , I required a extra room key at one stage as my wife had gone back to the room for an important business call, and I did not want to disturb her , I was not very happy with how I was spoke to by lady on reception and made to feel like a awful person for needing one more plastic key !!! Shame as that has made me score lower than I always have this hotel .

Don’t recall booking an accessible room. Because of the adapted accessibility the shower wasn’t great. Wouldn’t have been perfect if not mobile but would have preferred a better shower that would have been in a room that wasn’t adapted for accessibility.

Nice hotel, however the receptionist level of customer service weren’t great. Talked at you at check in, with no smiles, when entering or leaving the building they don’t look up to avoid welcoming you. Our room was only made up for 2 not 3 so we had to request an extra bed, however the rest of the amenities in the room only catered for 2 - ie 2 coffee cups. When leaving the access code provided didn’t work so we had to go back and park car, walk back to the hotel and get a new code and walk back in the ice. I just felt the staff could make an extra effort

Lovely room, great breakfast but there is a background noise that you don’t hear during the day that is so loud during the night, couldn’t work out where it was coming from. Putting in ear phones didn’t drown it out until I put some music on.

First stay here of many to follow
First time stay at a Novotel. If they are all as good as this one then I will be using this brand much more frequently. The staff were polite friendly and helpful, the foyer is large and well presented. I stay away at least 30 times a year and there are some things I always look for in a hotel obviously cleanliness is at the top, a decent size room with usb connection ports is good. The TV in this room was a good size, but I often prefer to use a tablet. Wifi was certainly quick enough for my small needs. I was not gaming. The bed linen was decent and the bed was an excellent foam mattress, the pillows were only OK. Another thing I think all hotels should fit are soft close toilet seats as there is nothing more annoying than one slamming down next door at stupid o' clock in the morning. Soft close seats are fitted here. As for the hotels location to York centre for us it was perfect. A 15 minute stroll along the river into town. Parking was perfect too and £16 for 24 hours in York is reasonable. We will be using this hotel again.
