Avoid the restaurant
Nice location, room was clean and had a pleasant harbor view. Bath was generally clean but hot water for a shower involved a literal 5-minute wait for the water to become warm, never hot. The in-hotel restaurant, Gales, was convenient but offered poor service. Long wait and rather incompetent service when only two other parties were seated. The food at dinner was mediocre but adequate. The apple crisp in particular was more brown sugar and oatmeal than apples. And Nova Scotia has such an abundance of good apples right now! We tried an early morning breakfast (only place open at 6:30 am). This was a mistake. The eggs were ok but the bacon was very sparing. The fish cakes were really fried potato patties. There might have been a few crumbs of fish somewhere in the browned fluff. The baked beans were obviously canned and cold. As my wife would have said, “none of it was worth the calories.”
