A short stay
We visited the bar for a coffee on a quiet Thursday afternoon. I waited 1/2 hour for two coffees, and one was unpalatable. We didn’t risk it a second time during our stay. The restaurant was ok. Food was nice. Throughout the hotel it seemed to be staffed with very young members of staff. From reception, bar, restaurant and house keeping staff. They seemed to lack experience or the knowledge of how to be personable. I’d say slightly robotic and reading from a script. The room was described as a Classic Double room. This felt like a storage room. Bigger than a cupboard though. House keeping were by far the friendliest. There wasn’t a window. Just a roof light. So you only knew if it was night or day. Raining or not. This meant unfortunately you needed lights on during the day. A waste of energy perhaps. It was ok though. Two of the lights didn’t work. If you wanted fresh air at all, that wasn’t going be possible. We did wonder if there had been a fire and you were unable to leave through the corridor, your only option would be to stay and wait for rescue through the room door. We know how that can work out! Next year when we come back for the fantastic Christmas Market. We would stay here again. But only after we’ve looked at all the other options first. Last note. Cleanliness. Generally it looked and gave you a feeling of being ok. Some of the corners of the ceilings which had quite well established cobwebs forming and the odd mirror with finger prints.

Winchester Hotel and Spa
Hotel was very nice, room was comfortable, very warm but a little tired. Sink plug hole wasn’t working and wouldn’t hold water in sink. Turning on the shower left a sewage smell in the bathroom. Breakfast very nice with a good selection. We would stay again.

Could be a really nice hotel, but it's sadly not. Checked in and the interconnecting door was open, fridge not working, no safe in the room, chipped and stained toilet seats, accessible room allocated despite not being requested, fruit platter full of mould, dirty towels everywhere outside the room causing trip hazards etc... Staff also not consistent in their service. Called for Reception and Room service and no one picks up... I had beverage credit included in my Expedia reservation and this was not given to me... Housekeeping made homophobic comments as I was staying with a friend for the first night (had twin beds) and on the second day staying by myself and asked for a double bed to be made. Housekeeping started shouting to the other attendants how 2 girls are sharing a bed? They then continued to make me a twin bed? All was just such a let down. I wouldn't stay here again, a disappointing stay sadly!

Nice but could be better
Clean, nice room. However extremely thin walls and ceilings made the stay very very noisy. Also a couple of staff members weren't particularly friendly, and not the most welcoming compared to other places we've previously stayed. Bed was quite uncomfortable.

Weekend break in Winchester
Stay was perfectly fine, Spa was nice but we didn't eat in the hotel so cannot comment on food and drink service. Staff were friendly and everything was clean and tiday in the hotel. On-premise EV charger was broken when we arrived but i called the company and they rebooted it for me. I was then able to charge the car OK.
