I'd been staying in Weston and decided to stay an extra night and just wanted somewhere to hang my hat, so I booked this "gem" last minute, online. Wall lamp held together with sellotape, heavy duty tea/coffee table sited nowhere near a plug socket to plug in the kettle. Nearest socket hanging off the wall and I had to drag the table over to it in order to make a cup of tea. Best of the bunch...a "thing" behind the toilet and shower room door with a sharp screw sticking out. Finally, it's a good thing I don't have mobility problems, I was up on the top floor and the lift was out of order. The biggest laugh was that on the reception they had tons of their own postcards describing the Savoy as "a quietly situated modern hotel."
I hardly saw any staff at all, although the manager very kindly let me check in way before I was meant to. This was the only positive about staying at the Savoy. In the morning when I left at around 09.15, there was no staff anywhere to be seen. I decided to have a wander around and my observation is that this hotel is falling to bits. It's dirty and dangerous to vulnerable people. I would never stay here again. The Savoy makes Fawlty Towers look like the Park Lane Hilton, it's an absolute disgrace.
