We stayed one night at Chalet Kilauea near Volcano, and it was definitely an interesting experience. Everything is self-service here—no front desk, you pick up the key yourself and just head straight to your room. It’s a pretty cool setup, and there's a supply room if you run out of anything, which was nice.
The room itself was pretty unique, kind of like a wooden cabin structure. The bathroom felt like stepping back to the Stone Age, but it was still okay for a one-night stay. The place is super quiet, which we appreciated. It's very close to Volcano Park, so it's great if you're planning to explore there.
The only downside was I did spot a cockroach in the room, which wasn’t ideal. But overall, for the price and the location, it wasn't too bad. Not much to complain about, just be prepared for the self-service vibe and keep an eye out for critters!
