Great stay! The beds were very comfortable, rooms clean, and the breakfast was more substantial than the prior reviews stated (hard boiled eggs, whole fruit, pastries, make-your-own oatmeal, juices, and good quality coffee). We were grateful, since the breakfast was one reason we chose to stay there---and protein-packed breakfast is desired. They also offered beach towels and chairs. One note: The roosters on/around the property cry at all hours of the night (e.g., 10:30 pm, 2:00 am, 3:30 am). My husband and I are light sleepers, so this was a bit hard. BUT, we had noise throughout our entire PR vacation at different locations (frogs, dogs, crazy birds) in San Juan, Luquillo, etc--so be prepared with whatever you need to sleep well, if you're a light sleeper like us. Overall, I highly recommend Sea Gate for a "local" bed and breakfast experience. Thank you, Ms. Penny, for your care and kindness.

I had a wonderful stay at Sea Gate! The location was great, and while the rooms were a bit outdated, they had a charming, homey feel and were very clean. Penny, who runs the hotel, was incredibly kind and helpful, making the experience even better. I would definitely recommend staying here!

It felt like going back in time, but in the end that ended up being the best thing. Even with an island wide power outage this property could run as usual. The fact that they do not rely heavily on modern day tech works to their advantage. As you walk in , you feel the sense of serene escape. Surrounded by nature and with amazing views is a great way to spend a weekend getaway. The hotel is not heavy on the amenities, so if you are looking for high end hair and body products or a luxury pool/spa, look elsewhere. There is great food on the island of vieques and so many fun things to do, you will spend most of the day exploring and little time at the hotel. We loved how clean everything was in our room and the views from the balcony were amazing. If you come visit, make sure to book your bio bay tour well in advanced and on a night where there is no moon. I also recommend renting a car for ease of travel around the island. Overall, we loved our stay at Sea Gate. The only thing we could do without was the rooster that would crow at first light and all day after that..lol

Paradise!!

Seagate exceeded our expectations! Price was reasonable for the accommodations. Penny was wonderful and very knowledgable with the area attractions. Very helpful with checkin even though she was having some knee pain issues. We weren’t prepared for all the roosters, dogs, frogs, bugs who seem to perform a nightly concert all night long but that is all over the island. Bring white noise or ear plugs. Horses on property as well as in the streets… all look a little thin but I think it is the breed of horse. All in all the trip and Sea gate was amazing!! Very welcoming and homey environment.

Gorgeous Views

We had a great stay at Sea Gate Hotel. We loved seeing all the wildlife. Gorgeous views and the balcony is private and a great spot to relax. The room was very clean.

We stayed here for 10 days and fell in love with Vieques and the Seagate. The location is great and it is easy to walk into town to cafes and restaurants or the beach. Our room was lovely with a comfortable bed, small kitchen area, and lovely terrace with a view of the sea. The staff here, especially Kelly and Penny, are wonderful, so helpful and knowledgeable. The property is beautiful.

Owner Penny is lovely. We stayed in the cottage which is three rooms plus kitchen and one bath. One room king, one room queen and two twins and a sofa in main room. So great for small family. Penny allows early check in at 2. And will store your luggage if you can’t get a ferry til late. This is a lovely bungalow type place. There are roaming chickens and roosters. And a light continental breakfast. Close to town. We’d definitely stay here on our next stay

Sea Gate is a very unique and charming hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable and had a spacious balcony with amazing views. The property grounds are beautiful and well kept. The owner seems to take a lot of pride in accommodating her guest. My husband and I were only on the island for one night but I wish we could have stayed longer!

Kooky and kitschy… felt like staying at your Uncle Bob’s vacation home for the night. Everything was built and created by hand. Dated but clean. Roosters are loud at night (all over town)! Amenities like pool looked nice but we didn’t have time to use. At top of hill behind fort so nice views and breezes at night.

Kelly was really nice. If you are staying overnight trip to do the biobay tour just to sleep and take shower it is good. Their family room seems to be better than standard room. For an island without any proper hotels this is the best as it is closer to the ferry. Also Kelly gave us a list of car service from which we picked one to take us around.
