I was double booked by mistake. Reception told me it was difficult to cancel the extra room because of hotel.com policy. I spent quite a bit of time chatting with hotel.com to try to get a waiver of cancellation fee for second room. Hotels.com was helpful and called the hotel to request a waiver. The reservation staff at the hotel refused to do it. If at the beginning I had known the hotel would not allow it, I would have let my traveling companion stay in the room, and they would have canceled their less expensive. So I am out my time and money because the hotel was not right up front about their unwillingness to waive the fee for my double booking. Fee was 100% of room charge
