Upon check in I was informed that there would be a power outage the next day from 9am - 4pm. It’s absolutely inappropriate for the property to not advise scheduled guests of this HUGE issue in advance. As per the BC hydro website this outage has been planned since March 31, therefore disappointing that staff did not reach out to scheduled guests staying on this date. Compensation for the inconvenience was refused. Horrible experience here, as guests clearly require power no matter what the reason - for example being there in a wedding the day of the outage. Extremely angry and disappointed that they did not alert guests in advance when the power outage has been planned for 16 days prior. It was clean and a quaint property. Older but with character.

The location could not be better. Walking distance to all the main sights. Ask for room 251 and you won’t be disappointed. Garden view and horse drawn carriages!!! Property very clean and staff very helpful. We’ll definitely be back😉👍

The James Bay Inn is in a lovely quiet neighbourhood, above a 10 minute walk to the head of the harbour. The JBI was built in the early 1900's and because of that has some limitations. There is no elevator to aid with accessibility. That said the JBI in quaint and comfortable. Our room was quite small and didn't provide much space to relax. The queen bed only had two pillows, making it difficult to use the bed to relax on. The highlight of the place is the staff. Each person we interacted with was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area.

Charming old time Inn. Lovely walkable area.

It was a very comfortable stay for us. The room was big and the bathroom was also big. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy. Loved the vintage furniture and the service was excellent! Hedy was very welcoming and we had great conversations with Anmol at reception. Staff were friendly. The hotel is very old but we loved it. The floors are not even and creak at times but didn’t bother us. We would definitely return again. Also very walkable.
