This was my second stay here. I can't praise enough the location (ground zero for the attractions) and price (always reasonable, regardless of season) along with the main draw: in-suite wood fireplaces. We were upgraded to a better room yet again when there were issues with amenities (first time, it was the TV; this time, the fridge). Outside of the random amenity not working, the facilities are pretty reliable despite their age and authentic decor. For the suites facing Langley street on the west side, traffic sound can be heard on the first floor, but the fourth floor was pretty quiet. If I want a pad that is walking distance to everything in downtown Victoria and happen to desire evenings with the crackle and waft of a wood fire between October and May, this is where I will continue to be.

The staff are friendly, helpful and competent. The building is elegant and of an older style. Everything was clean. It is, however, showing a little wear in places. Great location, convenient to the harbour, Parliament buildings, and other attractions. Parking a few blocks away in a parkade was not super convenient, but that is the price you pay for staying in the heart of the historic downtown.
