I really liked this place. It is a short walk over 2 bridges to the bus stop, and about 1.5 miles to St. Marks. Lots of places to eat, shop, and beautiful canals all around. Close to several museums. The hotel itself has a decent, small gym, a great breakfast, and very nice rooms. They let me check in early and check out at noon, which markedly increased the quality of my visit.

Only when checking-out, we were told that our 8 and 12 year old children had free breakfast during our stay. It was not mentioned to us at check-in or during our stay. The staff (mostly at reception) did the minimal to help us with transport from hotel to the train station. With a train strike on our check-out day, our earlier written request to change the check-out day was ignored. However, on multiple occasions, I discussed the train strike and our planned train time (boarding train at 8 am). Only on the night before did the manager said that I should have pre-booked the porter. He pretty much said that only option was to pay 70 euros to water taxi for a 2 min. ride. In the morning, when I again requested to help with porter, the receptionist said "porters are sleeping.. everyone starts work at 9 am or later" and that I should book a water taxi. I decided to walk to the train station myself (6 min. walk) and found a porter who came with to take our luggage. The receptionist then said something like " oh.. I just want you to understand that we all work together here.. this porter is part of our big group etc. etc."
