Hotel El Capitan is a hidden gem. I stayed here before hiking up Guadalupe Peak. The property is very clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel restaurant and bar had a great menu with delicious food. I’d stay here again.

The building is very old, which leads to the rooms being small. Especially the bathroom… you only have one place to stand, to the right is the toilet, the left is the sink, and straight ahead is the tub/shower. The restaurant has good food, but is overpriced as unless you are in a group, you get ignored by the wait staff. Getting to the hotel from the parking lot it is filled with gravel and pavement which hasn’t been repaired in several years. Very rough for dragging a bag to the hard to find lobby to check in
