An honest review

Overall the location is excellent with direct entry to the mall and walking distance from the train. But i dont know if they were short staffed or something but we came back several days at around 4 oclock pm and our room had not been cleaned yet, on those days we just asked that they take away our trash and leave us fresh towels. As for the beds im not sure if its a cultural.thing but they felt hard almost worn and i swear you could feel the springs in the beds. The hotel was celebrating its 45th anniversary and i have a feeling our room hadn't had many touch ups since it opened 45 years ago. Not to mention the thin walls someone upstairs from is probably had kids running around at 11pm and we called the front desk to ask them to quiet down but im not to sure they did anything as the noise continued on for at least another hour. I originally chose to stay here because i did last year and had nothing but an amazing experience with this hotel. But this year was almost a 180 from that last time. I'm hoping the hotel will reevaluate and insure the quailty in all of their room because for a place that is supposedly a high rated hotel its quality consistency leaves something to be desired as I pay more to receive a certain level of quality and this stay was not it.

There was no A/C in the room. No way to adjust temperature in the room (and no window). Staff was rude and not helpful in general. Rooms are not clean. Both sets of bedsheets are not clean in our room with two beds. Perhaps they are short staffed. There are way better hotels in Tokyo!

This Hotel did not have Air conditioning and the room was very hot the first night. I spoke to the front desk and they did offer any solutions to help cool the room. I just happened to ask if they have a fan and i was told "yes" and they brought it to me and it help. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillow felt almost no existent.

I think overall, the floor I was staying on was very dated and old. The room smelled of body odor and curry. The air condition didn’t work. The walls were full of previous stains. It’s not just my room. My friend staying on the same floor had the same experience.

I've stayed at Sunshine City a half dozen times now. It is easy to access from Ikebukuro station, surrounded by shopping, dining, and sights, and reliably clean and accommodating. At busy times the rates can be prohibitively expensive, but most of the time they are quite reasonable.
