Small kind of budget hotel in a great location. The central heating is annoying as our room was very hot in the night. Small no frills hotel with unnecessarily expensive hotel bar. I would stay again because of the location.
The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The vinyl records and player were a nice touch. Always felt like a sigh of relief returning to the quiet Shimokitazawa area.
We really enjoyed the easily accessible train stations around the neighborhood near the Mustard Hotel Shimokitazawa. The staff was really kind (barista, reception) and explained cleaning services plus offered sundry items, if needed. Very safe location that was hip and full of energy. Loved using the turntable and dancing in our room to soul music.
We were really impressed with Mustard hotel. Although the rooms are very simple and small (which comes expected with the price for this hotel as well as generally Japan styles), the property is in an incredible location, the staff were all so kind, and the cafe always has people around it. They also had a pop up in the lobby. All around, we loved our stay here. Amazing value. Would highly recommend.
Interesting boutique hotel that was different from most hotels in Japan. No television, but a record player in the room. On site cafe was good. We only stayed for one night so didn't get a chance to check out bar. Good place to stay for those looking for something different and quiet. The area had lots of restaurants nearby at train station (10 min walk) and lots of vintage clothing shops.
Property was easily accessible, in a cool area, and the room we had we a comfortable size for the price point. Coffee shop has nice coffee, and seems like a local hang out spot for folks with dogs since there is a big deck with seating outside. Very nice to see! The room itself had just what you needed, but no extras, which was fine and what we were looking for! Everything was neat and clean, just a few scuffs on the wall from other guests bags, but I'm sure that can be easily fixed and did not bother us. It was quiet - we were on the second floor. I would definitely stay again if I ever revisit this area but would plan the trip to the airport better since it's a bit farther to access via public transit than other central areas (i.e. I would just do luggage forwarding next time rather than lug bags on connecting trains for an hour).
The perfect stay for first time travellers to Japan, especially from english speaking countries. We had a wonderful experience and will be booking there again for our next trip. Thanks Mustard Hotel team!
It's a lovely property that's clean and simple, with few amenities but definitely suited my needs. The bed was small and clean and the property is definitely eco friendly. I enjoyed the bakery/cafe next to the front desk that had large open tables to work at or sit & relax. It is also well suited to anyone who loves records & record players!
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, they answered all the questions I had and gave great directions to places I needed to go to.
I would definitely return here and recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
