This is a fantastic hotel for everyone looking to experience the Japanese culture. The staff was incredibly polite and helpful. Cleanliness was amazing, convenience, neighborhood, everything was great. Now for the standard american or other cultures, the rooms are way too tiny and this could be a problem but you need to understand you are visiting a different country where space is premium so, before complaining please understand this is the standard for Japan. The hotel really fullfilled my expectations and beyond. Great work!
I arrive in the winter time so they are supplying heat for the whole entire building but you cannot control for your own room. Only way to cool or not to be too dehydrated you have to open the window
Room was clean, but to be honest it was comically small for two people. I expected a smaller room, but this was a literal closet. Area was very nice, tons of walkable food options, safe and clean but if I return to the area I'd search for a slightly larger room.

This was our least favorite of the 5 hotels we stayed at while in Japan. Glad it was only for 3 nights. The double bed room we had was teeny, tiny and HOT. Unfortunately, the rooms were not individually regulated and the hotel had turned on the heat despite the temperature being 20 degrees outside. And you aren't allowed to crack the windows. So hot room and no AC... :( Most of the front staff were pleasant to deal with. The plus here is the location. Lots of restaurants and convenience stores close by and a 5 min walk from the train station. We didn't use the public onsen or eat at the restaurant in the hotel.
The APA Hotel is located in the area where I wanted to be and very convenient. It was easy for me to navigate myself from the Narita Airport to the APA Hotel. I liked the easy check-in process and enjoyed breakfast. The room is just enough space for myself to sleep.
I booked 4 nights, but I have to check out one night earlier finally. The reason is I was woken up by noise next door at about 1:30am and another noise as well. I couldn’t sleep until 4am by making sleep tablets. I was woken up again at 7:30am by another noise as well. I almost stayed in hotel whole day due to not well sleeping and give up my trip planning. I then talked to the receptionist lady and manager lady to ask for compensation of JPY3500 and check out without staying last night. I had to change to another hotel for extra cost as I was scared woken up again and couldn’t sleep well etc. At the same time, I showed my heart operation and heart problems from Auckland hospital discharge letter. But they offer me to change room only without compensation for my sleepless and ruined my trip. They only gave me the reason that cleaners have to work very early. I told them it’s fine as long as they don’t make large noises to wake guesses up at about 1:30am-2am. I couldn’t understand how that large hotel group’s management running for the sake of guests’ benefit? Without compensation, I still checked out earlier as I did not feel secure and scared to be woken up in the middle of sleep.
This was by far the smallest room I've stayed in (Japan internationally).
Pros: 1) The onsen facilities at the top floor were nice to use. 2) The staff at the front desk were very helpful. 3) The hotel offers multiple luggage forwarding services.
Cons: 1) On days that your room is not cleaned the staff leave a bag of new towels and amenities ON THE FLOOR outside your door. 2) On days they did clean it seemed like the cleaning staff had no idea what they were doing. Towels weren't arranged, the floor was not vacuumed, and fallen items were not picked up. 3) The room had stains on the shower curtain, walls and blankets. 4) Elevators were always packed and 1 of the elevators was mostly out of service 5) You could hear the noise from the hallway and elevator clearly in your room 6) the hotel is uphill from the train station
It has everything that we need even though the room is small. Highlight is the laundromat which save our time in finding one outside, but the waiting time is long in the evening.

Amazing cozy room and hotel very easy to get ti and convenient. Vrty ckean snd very nice staff
Small but perfect. Rooms are clean and functional. The entire staff were a pleasure. Location can’t be beat. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Otsuka is a great part of the city, not as busy and bit more relaxing. Fell in love.
Excellent staff! Excellent price! Only small thing was the AC was not able to be used because the whole hotel was on “heating” mode and we had to sleep with the window opened and could hear the trains pass by. With the window closed it was silent but the room would warm up too quickly.
