Absolutely great experience. The only thing we would give advice to future guests is to look into the “meal plans” from our experience if you don’t purchase them in advance you aren’t allowed to dine at most of the restaurants. Other than that the staff, rooms and facilities are wonderful!

The best of the best! Jeffrey Chung is the finest Conceirge I have ever encountered. I can’t say enough about this hotel. They believe wholeheartedly in Customer Delight. I left my phone in a cab as I was dropped at the hotel one afternoon. Jeffrey assured me not to worry — that everyone gets their items returned in Taipei. He was so right. He saw to it and the taxi driver (so honorable) returned my phone. I look forward to returning to Taiwan and definitely staying at the Shangri-La Far Eastern. Susan April 2025

The hotel is old and dusty. My family experienced allergic reactions to the dust and mold in the bedrooms and common areas. The breakfast buffet was also underwhelming for a Shangrila and not worth it

English speaking travelers will feel very comfortable and cared for in this hotel. The staff is genuinely hospitable and accommodating. A special thank you to Sing, the lifeguard on duty at the rooftop pool, (a hidden gem of a view of the city) who not only gave us a great recommendation for dinner at Chez Yeh, on our last night in Taipei but personally made a call to make a reservation for us. I highly recommend this beautiful, clean and relaxing hotel.

The cleanest of the property is questionable. I have been staying at this property recently for Two nights and both days I had cockroach in my room.(I didn’t expect that when I was booking a five star hotel.) In the meantime when we running into another guest who was formerly staying next to our room had the same cockroach problem too. I am appreciated Chester the manager for realizing the issue and commit to do something about it. But I am not sure if I will go back again even after they switch us to a different floor and put us in a more expensive room.

It is not in one of the popular tourist area. It can look into neighboring residential buildings windows or vis versa. When we checked in the room was so damp as if no one has been using it for a long time. The hotel is very out dated throughout. Breakfast is usually crowded and feels like a bazaar. The Shang Palace restaurant is great although pricy. Staff are friendly.

Nice place and great service but the room on the 9th floor smelled like a restaurant in the evening during restaurant rush hour and the wester section of the morning breakfast buffet was cold. Cold ham, bacon, sausage and paulenta. Nicely prepared but missing the mark when cold.

Great choice for swimmers

Three day stay in Taipei - very good selection for swimmers. Top floor has a 19m pair of swim lanes and the pool is heated. Had considered the Grand Hotel for the swimming but they didn't have rooms. They have a 50m pool as part of their facility, but I was reminded by another swimmer that they don't heat the pool. That may be OK in the summer, but wouldn't have been welcome at 60 degrees F in the morning. Pool belongs to a health club collocated at the hotel, so the lanes get crowded fast. Get in early.

Hotel room has great view of Taipei 101. Staff are really nice and services are brilliant. Our trip was disrupted by the Heathrow closure, so was delayed for 1 day. The hotel team was brilliant and accommodating, allowing us to cancel one night despite very short notice. The location is walkable, but a little far from MRT station (~10 minutes walk).
