A character hotel
A fabulous character hotel that we return to every year as we love the pool. the rooms are spacious, comfortable and warm (we always have a winter stay) and the staff are very friendly and welcoming

Traditional Scottish hotel and curling club.
One night stay prior to getting the ferry from Cairnryan. Reception staff welcoming after a late check in. Large room, well appointed and bright clean bathroom. Connected curling club is an added bonus, the bar area also serves snacks. This presented great value.

Great location
A rather grand hotel on the edge of Stranraer ideal for a stop before or after a ferry sailing from Cairnryan or as a tour base for the Rhinns of Galloway. Good sized room with en suite bathroom. Slightly dated in appearance but good hot water! Great breakfast with freshly cooked hot food to order. Ample parking. Only negative was the room was slightly too hot for my liking - but that's a personal preference

A nice hotel with very nice staff. Feels homely and old fashioned which, depending on your taste, is good or bad. I didn’t need to really use any of the services provided, but they seemed attentive to their guests’ needs. WiFi was shocking, but because of location, that should be expected. Curling rinc is epic.

Last minute booking due to travel changes! The hotel was perfect for us for a one night stopover - clean and a decent sized family room holding the three of us! Staff very nice and friendly and a good breakfast!

A great hotel tucked away in Stranraer. We are regulars here now as we love the ambience, character and comfort of this hotel. The evening meal was superb with a good choice of menu. The room was spacious and luxurious and I always love a hotel with a bath!

It was not what I was expecting especially for breakfast. You know when you get a feeling when walking into a room. It was like an atmosphere of someone dying. Google maps was taking me to the petrol station next door. I think I went on the wrong day. Not even customers are friendly booking in. Luckily it was just for one night

Great hotel
We have stayed several times before so appreciate the reassuring feeling of this old hotel. It was certainly the best place to sit out storm Darroigh! Slightly old fashioned but thats ok. Very clean. Only thing - reception staff did not smile, not welcoming, rather negative at enquiries eg a No without a polite ‘ Sorry’. Cleaning staff excellent & deserving.

Traditional hotel with quirks
Lovely traditional hotel…curling rink fab & great to sit in the alpine bar and watch it… Was last here 6 years sgo, games room still here which is great for families but could do with a wee upgrade , small soft-play area maybe handy and a few more family friendly games & change of seating & tables.. Rooms very spacious but lacking in modernisation same with bathroom's, very dated, however clean and tidy and nice view of loch ryan from our room… Breakfast was great, served to us in a lovely dining room..we helped ourselves to toast, juice and cereal…staff friendly and professional… Loads of carparking at front side and back The Ross bar is nicely decorated with plenty of tables and couches & chatty bar staff, actually loads of seating all around the hotel… Will be back and hopefully sooner than 6 years..need to try the pool next time…
