Autumn Shakespeare getaway
This is a lovely, old fashioned and gracious hotel in a beautiful mountain town. Staff is delightful. So convenient to the Blackfriers Theater next door.

All the staff was friendly. The man running the bar restaurant single-handedly on Friday night went above and beyond in helping us order our dinner and get served that night. He was friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is clean, welcoming, and extremely convenient. We had tickets for plays at the American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriar theater. The theater is literally right next door -- a three-minute walk. We will stay at Hotel 24 South next time we visit Staunton to see plays at the theater.

Check-in was quick, the room was very nice and the bed comfortable. The parking was easy and once inside the beautiful lobby i was greeted and told about all the amenities. Would definitely stay again.

Very convenient
Nice historic, upscale hotel that is very close/walkable to downtown streets and wharf/railroad restaurants. Parking garage with elevator to lobby is very convenient. Cute bar area. Rooms were small but ample. The best choice is you want to stay in foot during your visit.

Some more prominent signage in the parking deck as to how one should get from vehicle to elevator or other forms of access to the building would be a meaningful improvement. Staff was very courteous, breakfast buffet was well, and lobby was impressive. An offering of some fruit such as bananas, apples or oranges in the “snack shop” area by front desk would be a nice add seemingly without much trouble.

The lights in your lobby, bar, & dining area make me feel like I’m at a hospital. Would be nice to dim those a bit or add some warmth. The key cards are from the 90s and will go dead as soon as they smell a cell phone nearby— I had to get mine redone twice over the course of a day. These are two small changes that could make the hotel go from dowdy and tired to elegant and modern. The staff was welcoming and helpful and i appreciated them.

Historic Hotel in a Great Location
This is a beautifully maintained 1920’s property in an excellent location in an extremely walkable town. My only Complaint is that restaurant service is not available every Evening although many good restaurants are within walking distance. Also, there is no room service.

The hotel is clearly old. The lobby is nice but the rooms need a facelift. Our lamp was burnt out when we got there. A refrigerator was supposed to be in the room according to the website but it wasn’t. When we asked about it they said it would be $10 a day to rent. When we mentioned it was listed as an amenity they said it’s “not guaranteed”. They finally agreed to waive the fee. Another guest mentioned that the pool and hot tub were grubby so we didn’t bother with that. We tried to get lunch at the restaurant/bar but there wasn’t any food in the daytime. Didn’t have a smart TV or any streaming options so you’re stuck with what’s on TV. Overall it just felt old and waaayyy overpriced for what it was and with so few amenities. Bed was comfy enough. The only reason to stay there is the location, which is fantastic and why they can get away with the high price. Service was adequate but nothing special. Wouldn’t stay there again.
