Only one pool was open during construction and half the amenities are closed and there were kids kicking soccer balls into the pool and parent throwing kids across the pool which we did with our kids but not at $600 a night hotels and $100 lunches. No staff ever stopped the craziness. We were hopping for a quieter 25th Anniversary weekend but got the LaQuinta Inn pool experience. The Don is absolutely beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the night there except the pool time. It’s an iconic hotel with a great beach. Our parking was comped for the issues. The Don Cesar is still an amazing place, not withstanding our under construction visit, Also they were only open a few week since the hurricanes so we know they will be back to its full grandeur soon.

After we reported that our toilet wasn’t working, the manager initially promised a credit but later blamed us for the clog. The credit wasn’t applied until I followed up about it. Additionally, many of the amenities were not accessible.

We had a fabulous stay at the Don. We scheduled a last minute spring break trip for our family of 4. The stay was overall great, and we are going home well rested. I gave 4/5 as we had to initiate getting our room tidied the first few days, towels at the pool/beach and in our room seemed hard to come by. The windows needed washed. Trash bins at the beach stayed overflowing the entire weekend. Seemed short staffed. I’m hopeful they will make a full comeback in the weeks to come.

This property has been a "bucket list" item for several years. We jumped at the opportunity to stay upon re-opening after the hurricanes. We understood that there were areas of the facility still under reconstruction. I was surprised at exactly how limited the amenities were. The employees were ALL fantastic!! We were simply disappointed by some of the simple things...like...with only one pool open, it was impossible to secure space poolside during the day. With the main bar/lounge doubling as the coffee bar, it was impossible to have a drink and lunch in the more relaxed environment of the lounge...and had to either order room service (who wants to stay in their room on a gorgeous day?), order pool-side...or go into the fancy restaurant. None of those options gave a casual lunch! Oddly...the linens in the room were fantastic (luxury king), the towels were lovely...but the toilet tissue was like using a truck-stop restroom. Why "cheap out" on toilet tissue, of all things? The facility was nice enough, but we wouldn't go out of our way to stay again. There simply wasn't value for the money.
