The property for the $ is great. The people are outstanding. Very safe area and parking free, with front desk validation every ticket..which was kinda annoying. The free breakfast is amazing with omelet and waffle chef prepared to order. She was awesome! Buffet had a nice mix of prepared hot food and good buffet of cold options. Rooms are comfortable with a variety of pillow types in standard king. The room was updated but still worn. My biggest issue was food was left in mini fridge by previous occupant. No hand soap at sink, standard eco friendly shower products okay. Awesome electronic control duel shower heads, you select temp. It had a glitch and fluctuated from 81-112 degrees at first, until we discovered if you ran them both at the same time the temp was stable. More emphasis on cleanliness needed in bathroom as there was hair remaining from previous guests. I didn't use the in room coffee maker due to cleanliness issues, but fair selection of single serve products. All in all, well worth it for the staff friendliness, location.

This is a nice quiet and clean place to stay when we visit in St. Louis. They have a full breakfast buffet with omelets and waffles made to order. The staff is always very friendly. It is close to Forest park area.

This was the one of the least expensive options in the area, so I didn't have high expectations. It was great. I slept well, the room was clean, the bathroom was very nice. The view (of the parking garage) left a little to be desired. The breakfast was just ok, but it was free so I have no complaints. I would stay here again if I were in the area!

Two bummers!

Hotel is nice, conveniently located in a bustling area. I always love visiting downtown St. Louis and was excited to stay in a new hotel as this was my first time at the Clayton. Ended up disappointed in the staff and service. Staff put the receipt under my door at 4:00am. I am a light sleeper so woke me up! Why so early. 6:00am seems more reasonable. Major bummer, def did not plan to be up at 4am! Ugh. Second - When staying downtown I always call to check out parking as I often travel with my pup or kids and like to make sure that the garage is close and reasonably priced. Front desk said that they validate parking and it is only $12, great I thought! The clerk was not clear on their validation process when explaining it over the phone and while I thought it was odd to bring the paid parking ticket to the desk at checkout, I paid when exiting the garage, per the phone rep, and took the time to actually check out so that I could get it validated (I never actually check out unless getting validation). Clerk was rude and told me that I should have brought the ticket to her BEFORE paying. I tried to explain my conversation but she was rude and somewhat aggressive so I left wo validation. Called to speak to the mng later in the day and she never called back. Terrible service won't be back. Too bad because hotel was nice.
