I booked a room with 2 beds which we did get but when I booked it said that the room could possibly sleep 5. In the picture there was a couch which I figured we would have, which is why I booked the room that I did. In any case, it was not a big deal but when you are booking for 4 you should also have additional towels, soaps, shampoos, etc. Luckily we had brought our own but those little things always make a big difference.

The room was clean but there was no heat in my room to start. I had to ask for help to put the heat on and the floors were cold as no carpeting. My room on the main floor looked out on an unkempt back alley. The rest was parking lot and there was plenty of parking. The design of the building means that there are stairs to navigate upon entry which necessitates help with luggage. The beds and pillows were a dream to sleep in and I have to say I had the best sleep ever!! 5 stars for that alone! Overall the rooms and building are tired but the staff were the jewels, everyone of them was so willing to help and were so kind and genuine. If there was a restaurant and a shuttle to downtown St. John's to take in the night life I would stay there again, but until that happens I will give it a pass, because there are other hotels in downtown for nearly the same price that give you so much more for your money.

We rated our stay a two mostly because the hotel’s website overstated what they could deliver. Not only was restaurant closed, there wasn’t even a lounge or area besides your room where you cold sit with visitors. There is no food or drink on the premises other than vending machines. The place is old and dated. The 4th floor smelled stale and of cigarettes. When we discussed our concerns staff appeared indifferent. Also the pet policy was not clearly stated. Had we not been in town for a funeral and had already driven so far we would have left to find another location. The beds were comfortable.

We like this hotel for my husbands medical appointments at the cancer clinic … it is convenient close to everything … I would like to see breakfast included. We like the hardwood floors as it is cleaner than carpeting.

Overall the staff and the area was great. However the building does need some TLC, updates to the elevator(it’s a bit small), the hotel hosted a tad bit of a musty smell throughout, and it desperately needs a restaurant or continental breakfast option for the price they are asking.
