Only stayed for one night for husbands birthday and we stsyed in a suite room. On arrive staff were helpful and polite On the whole the Hotel looks dated and needs a revamp as the decor looks tired. Our room also looked tired and the curtains where torn and drab. The actual room was spacious though and bed really comfy. We had the breakfast next morning which was great but again the dining room looked in need of a decorate

The hotel is rated 4* but it certainly felt less than that. The building and decor is very tired. Facilities are very basic. The corridors are of poor quality. Stained carpets. Chipped and marked paintwork. The cooked to order breakfast was lovely, however. Continental breakfast is basic. Good location for St Alban’s.

My room wasn't great this time. Stayed in room 145 and it was VERY small. No plud socket near the bed and their were lost of small flies in the bathroom. Bathroom was more than small without sufficient room to put my toiletries. I couldn't have the ironing board out and navigate my room at the same time. Dissapointing

Listed as a 4 start hotel is very generous, the property does need a lick of paint around the communal areas With regards to the room, there was marks on the wall and the draw was full of dust I probably wouldn’t stay again due to these issues

Highly recommend for short break

Came back to Hemel to finish final details for selling my late parents house. My Mum had always wanted to visit but never managed it. Room was a newly renovated one, shame four of the drawers didn’t close in the tv unit. Room was quiet being at the back and needed the fan on as so warm. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Ate in the restaurant the first night and the bar on our second and final night. Both meals were excellent. Breakfast was amazing with a great choice and regularly replenished. Seating was nicely spaced so felt you had your own space. Loads of free parking in car park with cctv which was a real bonus. Would definitely recommend to others wanting an overnight break. Just off M1 so very handy but still quiet. We had two nights great sleep in a very comfortable bed and slept in late on second morning so pleased breakfast served till 10.00 otherwise would have missed it!!

Dated hotel not 4 star at all

There are no nets on the windows of the ground floor complex for privacy or natural light, it’s either black out curtains or nothing and total visibility into your room, or other people’s room. No welcome guide or material for the phones in the room to call reception or room service (normal 0 or other macro buttons do nothing) or explaining how the shower works, single walk in shower three knobs no marking / colour coding on how the mix works so either scolding or less scolding water, all three turn on the supply. There is no AC but a fan is provided. The room was clean. Dated old hotel, warren maze of corridors to get to your room. This is not a 4 star hotel. I won’t be staying here again.

The hotel is in a nice location but the hotel itself looks tired inside. It has a very complicated layout in terms of location of the bedrooms. Services are pretty basic and it is more of a budget hotel.
