This is a comfortable, quiet basic, motel-style place that has been renovated. I booked a "deluxe" room, but there was nothing special about it except it was large. No coffee in the room, basic bathroom, etc. Not worth the splurge. The continental breakfast was decent and the staff is very friendly. It's a perfectly nice place to stay, but don't expect it to be more than that.

The Ellery is a nice Bed & Breakfast place. The staff were very helpful and efficient. I like the quietness of the place the most and I could say I had a good stay with them.

Cute Dutch colonial-style hotel within easy walking distance of Smith College. A bit farther to downtown Northampton, but still doable. The rooms were clean and looked recently updated. Reasonable prices - would stay here again.

Not a boutique

There were no safety hand rails in bath; there was no floor length mirror; there wasn’t a magnifier mirror in bathroom; there wasn’t a coffee maker in room; you can hear the walking of feet above u if u r on first floor as well as people talking next door. Given all of the above, the price they charge for a room is outlandish. This place that considers itself a “boutique” hotel is nothing more than a motel 6. But to its credit, The room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was very comfortable.

We had a fantastic stay at the Ellery! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, and the check-in process was seamless. Our room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully modern, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The highlight was definitely the breakfast—so generous and thoughtfully curated! We loved the fresh avocado toast, the variety of gluten-free options, and the organic coffee and teas. Every detail felt intentional and well-executed. And the fire in the fireplace was just the cherry on top!

The Ellery was the perfect place to stay overnight on a trip to Northampton. My friend and I spent an enjoyable day visiting the botanical garden at Smith College, and then had a wonderful dinner at HighBrow. The Ellery is a lovely property and I would stay there again if I go back to Northampton!

Room was cute and comfortable Walking distance to Smith College - we came for a basketball game. Breakfast was good except they had run out of quite a bit of stuff by the time we made it to breakfast with like an hour left

The Ellery was very quaint, the staff was polite and the atmosphere was cozy. We were a little surprised that no staff remain on the premises after 8 pm. There is a number to call for an emergency. We booked through Expedia and were given a single rate fee so were quite surprised to see each night varied in rate. No two nights were the same. While the cost was not unreasonable, it was surprising that we were not made aware until after check out. Wed, Mar 5 146.70 Thu, Mar 6 152.10 Fri, Mar 7 180.90 Sat, Mar 8 228.60 Sitting by the fire reading was a great place to be when we weren't involved in other activities. There are many excellent restaurants nearby. Roberto's and Fitzwilly's were favorites. We would recommend The Ellery to others for short visits.
