I love to stay in a historic hotel but the staff was less than enthusiastic to be here. People outside were friendly and inviting. Roma the person at the desk should not be the one to engage visitors. She was lazy in tryin to secure an extra umbrella. There was a big storm at night and I had to share an umbrella walking the streets of Savannah. I also had to wait 1 hr for soap in order to take a shower. The soap in the shower was not filled at the beginning of my stay. And I ran out. I almost missed my tour and there was no sense of urgency to remedy an easy fix. My bathtub had a huge crack in it exposing the raw metal. I really did not enjoy showing in that tub.

I really enjoyed the southern hospitality of everyone. It is a great location for all of the historic sites and right on the free bus line. Valet parking was expensive but car was safe and was quickly retrieved.

My family of 3 recently stayed here for 4 nights. Great location for walking anywhere you want to go. Good and attentive customer service. I booked and paid more for the corner executive room with 2 double beds and a balcony, only to find when we arrived that the door to the balcony was sealed shut for "safety reasons." When I mentioned this to the front desk, they gave me an $80 voucher to use in the restaurant and coffee shop, which I appreciated and we did use. The food was ok. The hotel lobby is very modern and eye-catching with beautiful artwork and chandeliers, but our room, while clean, was very dated. The furniture and window treatments could use a refresh. The pool area was also dated with worn out pool chairs. Overall, it was a good stay and the customer service somewhat made up for the hotel's shortcomings.

Exceptional choice in the heart of Savannah

This was the 4th time we’ve stayed at the DeSoto. And by leaps and bounds the best! The hotel has always been spotless! Cleanliness has never been an issue. But this time the staff was simply amazing! And the Buffalo Bayou cafe had evening hours, whatcha made it so easy to run down and grab a snack, of grab something after coming in from being out and about in Savannah. The past few times we stayed, we had to walk to the convenient store. We had most of our meals at the hotel. Both Proof and Provision and 1540 Room. Food and staff were all amazing. But mostly GJ at 1540 Room for breakfast. She is the epitome of a Southen Belle! Her hospitality is unmatched, a true asset to the DeSoto. And Mitch, general manager of the DeSoto. His hospitality is equally unmatched! He went above and beyond to make us feel special. We were there for our elopement and short honeymoon. And he went out of his way to deliver champagne and a hand written note of congratulations to us. We know he has to be a very busy man, and yo go out of his way for us like that means everything! He even referred to us as “DeSoto Family!” We will continue to make the DeSoto our hotel choice when visiting our what we consider, our second home Savannah.

Disappointing

We booked a deluxe king but were put in a standard double room instead. We were told by the front desk that we’d be compensated for the downgrade but have not received anything despite multiple follow ups. The rooms are not four-star quality and felt more like a budget hotel. Also, the air conditioning in our room did not work and housekeeping did not come once during our entire weekend stay.

We are so grateful to the staff of the DeSoto! Everyone was so extremely friendly and helpful. Every need was seen to, every request fulfilled and Samir,Becky,Howard,Aquila,Kevin,Xavier &Nick went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Savannah is incredibly beautiful, but from our experience, we can only assume that the people are even more so. Can’t imagine staying anywhere else!

We enjoyed our stay at the DeSoto. In past trips to Savannah, we have stayed near the river. We really enjoyed this neighborhood and being close to Forsyth Park, the Squares, etc. Very welcoming and comfortable hotel. We will definitely stay at the DeSoto again when in Savannah.
