My bed was EXTRAORDINARILY comfortable. My room was quiet (which surprised me, because the bar next to the property had very loud outdoor music). My room was clean, the staff was all lovely. The POOL AREA was amazing. I was very pleased with my stay.

The hotel is very well situated with a regular bus service to downtown Sarasota. The room was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful and it has a great pool. And the Tiki Bar has a wonderful range of cocktails.

This is a good example of how star ratings don’t always tell the full story. I rated this property two stars not because of the staff—who were kind and tried to be helpful—but because it ultimately wasn’t the right fit for me. As a woman traveling alone with valuable camera equipment, I didn’t feel safe. The rooms are accessed via exterior entrances, and the surrounding area seemed a bit run down, which added to my unease. Trusting my instincts, I decided to stay elsewhere in a different part of town and did not spend the night at the Golden Host Resort.
