The room lacked many expected essentials….and the property had a 4.8 Hotels rating. Not my room, which I rate a 1. Example: no closet. Huh? There were some hooks on the wall in the bedroom. No hangars. The windows faced a very noisy street. The mattress was very poor. The bathroom light on a motion detector, to blind me in the middle of the night. Oh…they also charge w demand pricing, so my weekend nights were over $500 per night. The property may be ok overall. But my tiny room was a joke. On me. 4.8? I gave them a 2 because the people were nice.

I noticed a previous review mention the limited parking, and I can now confirm it’s definitely an issue. The hotel has a very small number of spots, and if there are multiple guests or parties sharing a room, the parking can fill up quickly. My room also had an overpowering bleach smell upon arrival, which made me feel dizzy—I actually had to grab Tylenol from the market next door. It was a bit much. I had to open the sliding door (with no screen) to waft out most of the smell. One thing that caught me off guard was the payment process. The hotel charged my card a few days before my stay, and the charge sat as a pending balance. In my experience traveling for work, most hotels don’t process the payment until you check in, so that was unexpected. On a more positive note, there was a front desk associate who was nice and helpful. I was convenient a cross walk away from the beach and short walk from the pier. Close to a few restaurants and the neighborhood was friendly.

We like the location of the property. Close to beach and "bcycles" for easy transportation. A lot of stores and restaurants nearby. We did not like that the pool closes a little early for a tourist area and the parking lot is small. If you have a full size truck you will have a hard time parking if the lot is full. Other than that, we would stay again.

Nice hotel, free parking, only downside was the mishap at reception. I had to wait an hour to get checked in and another couple was checked into the room I reserved. We had to stay in a room that was occupied not even 10 minutes beforehand and was quickly “cleaned”.

Honestly, the Blue Sands Inn hotel is not a bad hotel at all. The parking was the main issue because it was so small. The bigger car you have, the harder it is to park. Besides that, the room was nice but the attention to detail was the issue. Little strands of hair, dust particles, things of that nature. Besides that, the location of the hotel is not bad at all. Close to the beach, stores, and places to eat as well. Do not let my comment stop you from staying here. Give it a shot, you might just like it.

We had a wonderful 5 day stay at the Blue Sands Inn. The owners are lovely people and very involved. They made sure our stay was excellent. They had very nice little touches like warm baked cookies with breakfast. Safe location close to the beach and great restaurants. Looking forward to staying here again!

We had a wonderful stay at Blue Sands Inn. The room was a good, comfortable size—clean and nicely kept with everything we needed. The property itself is well maintained and in a fantastic location—just steps from the beach and within walking distance to State Street, which made it easy to explore shops and restaurants. Communication with the hotel staff was smooth and responsive throughout our stay. The woman at the front desk waited 15 mins past her time for us to arrive for check in! Really appreciated that sweet gesture. Room had a small fridge and some drinking water. There aren’t drawers for storage, there’s a rack with hangers. The only minor downside was the wooden bed frame, which made creaking noises, but overall it didn’t take away from our comfort. If you’re looking for a hotel with a big lobby, restaurant, bar etc and 24/7 service this is not it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a convenient, affordable and well-kept place to stay in Santa Barbara!

The room was dirty, the bed was dorty with some either bugs or big black boogers under the pillow. one light was not working and the other kept flickering. The room was warm and you do not have control over the AC. My face kept itching and eyes watering everytime we entered the room, sat on the bed, or touched anything in the room. The location is nice, though, thats about it.

Overall very nice. Quaint, boutique like motel near the beach. Clean and updated with a nice shower. Our room had a gas fireplace and a microwave, but no coffee service and the soaps were empty. I would give it 3 stars and hope that they would offer a little better conveniences in the future. Especially, for the price point... With coffee service and full soap dispensers, 4 stars!
