I stayed at Urbana Hotel in San Juan, PR for a business trip and had one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
For over four days, there was no hot water in my room and no room service. I reported the issue to the staff several times and was only given excuses. Meanwhile, other guests confirmed they did have hot water, which made the situation even more upsetting. As a guest of African ancestry, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was being treated differently — and that possibility is incredibly disturbing.
Housekeeping was also a major issue: my linens and towels were never replaced, and I had to change them myself. Attempts to speak with a manager went nowhere — apparently, no one in charge was available during my entire stay. Communication was handled mostly through copy-pasted WhatsApp messages.
On top of all that, there’s a nightclub nearby that plays loud music late into the night, making it difficult to sleep. What’s worse, other reviewers have mentioned this in the past, and the hotel has denied its existence — which is simply not true. The noise is very real, and the hotel is being dishonest by pretending it’s not a problem.
I gave Urbana Hotel multiple chances to resolve these issues, and nothing was done. The room service never came to clean even after I was told they received my request.
If you value comfort, honesty, and basic hospitality standards, avoid this hotel. There are far better options in San Juan.
