Great night’s sleep after flying, amazing service
They were communicative, friendly, responsive. I was able to chat with them at any time and they were so helpful. They were willing to pick me up from the airport in middle of the night and when I didn’t need that, they had someone waiting up for me, greeting me and helping me with my bags. The room was comfortable, beautiful furnished, private and clean. The shower and bed were great. When I left, I got my first “Pura Vida” and a friendly goodbye. I would definitely come here again.

Exceeded expectations!
Booked one night near the airport for an early flight - far exceeded expectations! The loveliest, friendliest and homiest hostel I’ve ever stayed in! Super welcoming, were so helpful with my limited Spanish, had really nice areas to hang out and even managed to put the Ireland rugby match on the tv for me! They arranged an airport transport for me which was great and I can’t leave a review without mentioning Holly the dog who clearly runs the show, a sweet sweet pup!

This place is cozy and beautiful. If you want to be surrounded by warm people and lush gardens, this is the place. The water feature with gold fish on the back patio is like a small meditation retreat. A lot of love when went into building this little gem.

I can’t say enough good things about this hostel. The family went above and beyond. The gardens and fountain made for the most tranquil environment. Felt like a real life oasis. I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in San Jose. I hope to come back to see them again one day.

Staying at Garden's House Hostel was my best decision on my trip to Costa Rica. The hosts are the nicest people you could meet, and they go above and beyond to give you the best service and accommodations. You get a home-cooked breakfast included, and can also get a homemade lunch or dinner as well (for a slight extra cost - about $6 USD for a full supper, which is much cheaper than ordering from Uber Eats!). They offer transfer services to pick you up/take you to the locations where day trip busses pick you up (for trips to Manuel Antonio Park or Tortuga Island). I cannot say enough good things about this place!! When I return to Costa Rica, this is the only place I want to stay!

I liked everything. I stayed twice, and upgraded to a private room the second time. They just installed an Air-conditioner. The room had Roku and a large walk in shower with a sunroof. The breakfast is included and the two hosts are extremely nice and helpful.

Gardens house was fantastic! They were super nice and very hospitable. For a small price, they even made us dinner which was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend staying at Gardens house if you need a simple place to sleep near the airport. The front and back areas were filled with beautiful plants and there was a hammock which was nice!

Really wonderful hostel run by a lovely family. I stayed in a single room. It’s no frills for sure but that’s what I paid for. Everyone was super friendly and the family will drink with you at the kitchen table. Highly recommend, would stay here again. It was a short walk to downtown alhuela and the hostel itself is in a gated community of sorts. It all felt very safe.
