The room heater was broken making it constantly 100 degrees in the room, windows had no screens so could not sleep safely with them open, requested a new room or to fix the heater and the person at the desk kept making excuses as to why they couldn't do anything about it but it was clearly due to laziness and lack of care. Asked for a discount and was told a manager had to do that but none were on site for the entirety of my stay - clearly just another excuse.
Bring ear plugs - noisy from the disrespectful people but also if the road gets closed - traffic re-routes on the street along the motel - so it is not "quiet" by any means. The location is really great though: steps away from the beach and the Botanical Garden, short drive to de Young and the Legion of Honor museums, Golden Gate Bridge, etc. There are a couple of nice cafes really close that can be walked to for meals as well. There was no coffeemaker in my room - despite it being listed as an "amenity". i don't know if i'd stay again - but i enjoyed the 3 day stay - any longer than that, and the bed would have killed my back))
I’ve stayed in a lot of motel sixes in my lifetime and this was definitely the worst. I can’t believe in the city I grew up in at Ocean Beach the Hotel would be so ghetto. There was garbage outside our door. The curtains gave no privacy and they were hung all funky nowhere to put our clothes, and we got plenty early hoping to get a good room. I was looking forward to looking out at the sand dunes at the beach. All I saw was garbage when I walked out the front door and gate that slammed day and night with nothing to slow it down. They told us that the hotel was being tore down in a year, but I think while it’s open, it should be at least up to par. If it was a par three we shot an eight with that hotel. Somebody needs to look after Motel 6 because more than likely that will be my last Motel 6 Stay. The TV must be from the 1990s. We just wanted to mirror our phone to the TV and we noticed it wasn’t even a smart TV probably because the lowlife around the motel would steal it.
It was actually antenna TV with about six or seven channels. I think you should give a warning about that motel when you’re booking it. There was homeless people sleeping in the parking lot. They were even banging on the gate day and night trying to get in. Very sad.
Be well
