The Chancellor is extremely clean and well maintained. We have stayed there quite a few times. The staff is excellent. There were strikes going on at several of the other hotels in the area that created a lot of noise, this is not the Chancellors fault. We also saw several drug overdoses in the area of Union Square. A lot of the businesses in the area have very visible private security, but San Francisco PD is notably absent. Again, not the Chancellors fault, but the City of San Franciso's fault.

The door in the bathroom did not lock. Also there were no breakfast, however there were 27/7 coffee and wonderful taste cookies, always fresh.

This hotel was amazing. For one, they have complimentary cookies, coffee, and tea available. The staff was attentive and nice as well. The location was also convenient because it was right next to a cable car pickup station and less than 500 feet from another one. Only that sucked was that they gave us a 2 for 1 drink coupon and on said coupon it said they were open from Monday- Sunday, 4:30-9:30, but then they were closed Sunday and Monday so we couldn’t use it. Overall still loved it, will definitely be coming back.

I would recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness and affordability. It is located in Union Square in San Francisco. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable. It was also very affordable and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Very old building that is creaking at the edges. No noise isolation - be ready to be woken up by sudden noises from nearby bathrooms.. (or bring some earplugs). No air conditioning, but they have a ceiling fan. However the room got very stuffy due to lack of ventilation. I couldn’t open windows to let fresh air .. the stuffiness was noticeable when you walked in.. Also, please be aware that a lot of nearby hotels are having employee strikes. So, there is a constant barrage of drums, clangs and slogans assaulting your ears. This is not the hotel’s fault, but something for the guests to know..

Oh how I loved staying in this hotel!! Quiet and clean, friendly staff, the bellman took our bags right to the room with us upon arrival!! The cable car right out front was a huge bonus, especially for my first time in San Francisco. Hope to be back someday soon!

Great hotel and location. The city needs to solve the homeless people roaming on the streets situation, though. For the room equipment, I suggest they add a switch for the bathroom vent. Overall, a wonderful experience staying in this hotel.
