The room was very nice and convenient for my overnight stay does have a lot of stairs due to new elevator but was worth the stay close to everything nearby.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff was very helpful, kind, and supportive. I would stay here again however I wouldn’t stay here other than winter season because there is no A/C, only one small squared window. Parking is also difficult and expensive. I stayed here for a festival I was going to though and it worked out.

The hotel’s location to numerous stores, bars, & restaurants within the Gaslamp is very convenient, however like much of Downtown San Diego, the homeless problem is prevalent. There wasn’t a day where we didn’t encounter homeless individuals while walking to/from the hotel. The hotel renovations are brand new and in some cases ongoing (lobby area). I would recommend the general contractor walk each room and blue tape items for their subcontractors to address. In our room, there was fresh paint splatters that should’ve been cleaned up, messy caulking, poorly installed face plates, etc. There are 3 parking lots conveniently located near/next to the hotel. Rates can change throughout the day. We paid $50 every 24 hours.

I wanted to have a Staycation and came across The Beau. It looked super cute online. Well, you know the saying, too good to be true, which it was! In two different places online it talks about parking, but the information conflicts. You actually have to pay, to pay in an open lot across the street for $40. In which you also do not have in and out privileges. Then, when we were checking in, the person behind the desk, tried giving me a Queen Bed, when I paid for a King! I almost canceled the reservation as he was telling me he didn't have a King available. The amenities it says it has in a room is all false! Bed was super hard. Plus, when it says Gaslamp Quarter, actually be prepared for it to be more Downtown and many homeless around! Lastly, There was a party going in, on the 3rd Floor above us. There was pounding and banging for 3 hours straight (12pm-3am). I could hear the voices and conversations clearly. It was not a good experience.

My stay was very clean and relaxing with respectful receptionists that were just one phone call away. Everything is brand new at this hotel with an entire bar that looks like it will be ready to use soon. They have a little garden area that is quite peaceful if you need some time outside your room but don’t want to be part of the noise from the street which gets busy. My luggage was taken care of all the way to my room which was not expected since I did not see a bell man. Much appreciated especially with the heavy load I have as a woman….

The hotel is very nice but still unfinished, my room didn’t have AC so I had to keep the window open but since it was facing the street there was a lot of noise during the night

The room was nice, but their beds are as hard as a rock. No A/C and had to open windows for ventilation, but the noise level on a Saturday night was through the roof so made it hard to rest.

Really great staff and beautiful property! Although when we were there the bar area seemed like they were still working on it and was closed. Rooms are small but clean. It’s an old building so you can hear people walking in the hallways and hear the upstairs rooms walking around. It’s located in the downtown area so a lot of unhoused people screaming on the streets kind of takes away from the relaxing experience. Rooms didn’t appear to have AC so had to keep windows open to get some air flow. Parking is also not included, although you can park in the garage behind the building for around $42 a night. We found street parking out front that’s cheaper but need to load every 2 hours. Overall good experience but would only stay here again if I wanted a downtown experience.

Excellent all around!

Great place, beautiful, classic restored Victorian with all the modern amenities and cozy comfort. Location is great at the north entrance to the Gaslamp district with food bars and the San Diego harbor. The staff are professional and polite! I’ll stay here again for sure.

Beware of Parking, noise, and small rooms

The parking situation was a nightmare. Either paid on street for a max of 2 hours at a time, or a parking garage on the next street over for $43 per night with in/out privilege. This was an unexpected cost as it is not mentioned anywhere. We drove around for 10 min before a "spot" opened near the hotel in order to check in. Rooms were extremely small. Enough space to walk around the bed. No closet at all, just a little rack to hang up clothes. Not sure how much bigger the upgraded rooms were. Walls really thin and windows not sound proof. So a noisy party from the floor above kept us up, and people on the street outside keep waking us up through the night. No phones in room to contact front desk so had to walk down stairs (unsure if there was an elevator anywhere) to talk to front desk. He took care of the noise of the party within 10 min, but they kept stomping around all night, and there was nothing to be done about the noise outside. The bed was extremely firm. Coffee maker/Tea was in a communal area, so not in room. Not sure how fresh coffee is in the pots. No surface areas to put anything on. Were hoping for a romantic night in a historic building, but got a sleepless night that killed the mood quickly. If you need a room to pass out after a night of partying in San Diego Gaslight District, this would probably work for you. Otherwise if you are looking for quite and romance. This is not it.

The hotel is not complete and my room was entirely dysfunctional. Small and cramped and use of space was horrible; had to close the bathroom door to even move around, and shower shelf was at elbow height - very poor planning. There was no workspace at all, closet was a cheap hanging rack. It is in a great area and they are building a great lobby, but I won't stay there again unless I first see the room!

My room on the 3rd floor had a terrible, foul odor coming through the AC unit. It was unbearable so if you stay check the room for odors before you stay in it with the air running. The WiFi is also insanely slow and unfit for business travel and anyone that needs to do video calls.

Very cute hotel. The staff was super friendly and always polite. The room was simple but modern and perfect for what we needed. The only things to keep in mind is that it’s an older building so you can usually hear people walking by or in the staircase. The area around the hotel is interesting but no major issues throughout the stay!

Great find in the gas lamp!

Booked the beau last minute. The hotel is newly opened in a renovated 3 story building from the early 1900s. They kept a lot of the old world charm, but it was also modern and comfortable. They offered free coffee in the morning and the front desk employee also walked my to show me my room. I was on an interior room so it was very quiet even though it is in a busy part of town. Finding street parking nearby overnight was very easy. There is no elevator so you will need to walk up some stairs with your luggage
