I understand that we are in a unique time, and I understand that Expedia’s note on the hotel that said parking available didn’t say “free parking” but my first shock upon arriving was the $35 per night parking fee at the garage across the street. That really changes the price of the hotel and might have led me to make a different choice!! It took 45 min to check in as the lobby was PACKED and the line was very long. Thankfully(?) at least half the families were wearing masks and being respectful. This hotel is actually 2 hotels - a Hampton inn on one side and a home2 suites on the other. As far as I can tell there’s not much difference between the two as they’re in the same building, the only difference seems decorating, you go right off the elevators for one, left for the other. The construction surrounding this hotel made it impossible to directly access the river walk (one of the main reasons I chose it) so we had to walk surface streets which are also under construction so it was very confusing. My second biggest frustration came when we tried to get the included breakfast. The hotel has two dining rooms, one for each of its brands but only one is open and both are (surprise!) UNDER CONSTRUCTION! We waited in line for 45 min and it NEVER MOVED... we finally gave up and went to purchase breakfast elsewhere.
I booked this hotel because I’ve always appreciated Hampton’s value and service so I’m hoping this is just a reflection of the times and not the place.
