Lovely old building 12th century I believe with plenty of character. very cosy spacious room and very nice bed , recommended for anyone visiting Salisbury as its conveniently close to the city centre
The property was in the heart of Salisbury so it was only a fifteen minutes walk from the Train station and I didn't have much luggage, so not having to walk far helped. The ambience of the hotel was good especially the outside area where you can just sit and enjoy the flowers and the vines. The hotel is near shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and I got a complimentary upgrade from a single room to a double room. The room had everything I needed and was clean and the breakfast in the morning had a good variety. The only thing that didn't work was thr TV I fancied watching TV on the big screen but couldn't. For a four star hotel this isn't good. I mentioned this to staff at check out. The rooms had enough towels and toiletries for me.

All fine. Very lovely room. Friendly owners and staff. Nothing but good to say of everything about our stay.
I stayed whilst working in the area. I have to say I've stayed in fair nicer hotels for less money! The room was averagely clean, dust in the bathroom, no where to store wash bag other than the floor. The room was not replenished with tea/coffee one morning and dirty cups remained.
The breakfast was self service, no decent coffee (latte etc was charged as an extra) very basic again for the money.
Having said that, the location was fantastic but I just felt it was quite expensive for what was provided.
Very quaint, old with amazing history, excellent service

Furthest room on third level of building with no elevator. Room itself nice but only a fan to cool it. Radiators had been blasting heat and no turnoff on towel heater. Room was located above the corner of two busy, noisy streets, making it hard to sleep or even watch television. Thankfully there was a fan in the closet to make the room bearable.

Probably the best in Salisbury
Friendly helpful staff … beautiful building that has its origins in 1300s
Highly recommend
The Red Lion was in a fabulous location, right in the centre of town. The bed was comfy, The staff helpful. I will be staying again in a couple of months time. Thank you
The entry courtyard is adorable as well as the intricate carvings and woodwork in the front lounge area. The hotel is clearly very old and has been added to through the years...making the layout quite maze-like. It was an interesting place to stay in Salisbury, and I think you have to check it out at least once. But, now that I have, I would probably look somewhere else if I'm through Salisbury again. Breakfast was quite expensive for just ok food.
