The desk clerk sent us to a room that wasn’t ready yet. There was a worker in there fixing things then we had to go back to the desk and tell the guy. And wait for him to find us another room. It was very inconvenient.

There really is not anything real close to walk to and the river view is not much of a view, it’s more a view of M25.

The potted flowers are lovely and add a welcoming touch. The carpet in the hallways and stairwells is smelly and stained. John checked us in and apparently failed to activate our key for the duration of our stay, so we were locked out of the back door and our room after a long day at the beach and hauling all our gear in. He blamed someone else for it, rather than apologizing. Also, he did not ask for my ID before he gave me a new key! The rest of the staff we met were friendly and professional, including the second-floor housekeeper and both breakfast room attendees.

Thought toilet was running, clapper stuck possibly in room behind us, 206...BUT WAS OURS..every minute or less it gurgled!! All night. I told staff in morning, at check out. Had hoped for a lake view room, should have asked for one. Bed was wonderful, room a/c not needed, used blanket in closet, as was too cold..tried to chg machine to heat but didn't warm well. 206 had loud night, too, could hear thru walls, till midnight.. drinking, maybe??
