We were extremely disappointed with the quality of our hotel room (and our overall experience wasn’t good either). We first arrived in our room (which I was told was the last room with double beds) around 9:30pm with two tired kids after driving for 9 hours - we were in no state to consider other options. In the room: the lampshades were cracked, the dresser's drawers were chipped around the edges, the refrigerator had grime on the outside, the popcorn ceiling was brownish in certain areas, the towel rack showed rust, the sink top had deep slices in it, etc (this list is not exhaustive). Throughout our experience, the receptionist was never at the front desk (always in a back room), and as we walked into the lobby from the outside it smelled like weed.
I have stayed at hotels of various quality and price throughout my life. We passed on several cheaper hotel options thinking we would be gaining a better experience staying at an Extended Stay America (ESA). The pictures of ESA looked good, and we were thinking ‘you get what you pay for’. Given that, we could have never have imagined the quality of our room would be this poor.
I am ashamed my family had to go through this experience, and I feel like we should receive at least some of a refund. I reached out to ESA first (I figured I'd give them a chance to make this right), but I am being told they cannot issue a refund because I went through Expedia. I wonder if Expedia will try to make this right.
