Great Location, good price
The Berkely Hotel is a charming well maintained hotel in a great location for Richmond (Shockoe Slip). The only negative for me and my wife is that the rooms are dated and need some amenities to be added, most notably power outlets 120 v and USB and a refrigerator. I understand they are starting next year on a renovation plan. Unfortunately, the room rate will go up (most likely) As it is now it is a good value!

Hotel is in desirerable location. Friendly staff. Will be undergoing renovations starting in 3 weeks. Renovations will go floor by floor. Restaurant in the hotel was nice. Valet parking was no more expensive than garages in the area.

We loved this hotel! It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the historic vibe of both the hotel and the neighborhood. We had a nice meal in the hotel restaurant. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is pet-friendly. We brought our elderly dog on the trip with us and there were no issues.

Beautifully appointed quiet room with a kitchenette and almost full-size refrig. Cobblestone street with low traffic, a wonderful bookstore nearby and a fabulous cafe--the Urban Farmer, for sipping coffee, getting a sandwich practically across the street. Staff were upbeat, professional and personable. I'd return.

A regular stop for us.
We stay here every time I have medical tests in Richmond. Very convenient to VCU, but drawback would be parking. We have been luck every time to find spaces on the street very near the hotel, but $32.00 to park is too much if we couldn't find a space. Occasionally there are sketchy people near the hotel who and we have told the staff who got them to move on. That did not happen this visit-except for the sad homeless guy nearby. Glad the restaurant is open again
