Great family resort! Steps away from the beach. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Even though we went during spring break the atmosphere was family friendly and things quieted down by 11pm.

Cons: food was nauseating, check in was unacceptable- we reserved a two bed room and were provided with a single bed room and told that was what was available, cups/glasses were left sitting throughout the resort, there was rarely any lounge chairs available as they were all reserved with towels and nobody ever in them, the people and children constantly trying to sell us their goods made it difficult to enjoy the beach, the pools were small and boring. Pros: relatively clean, Freida the excursion booker was AMAZING & KIND.

Amazing stay at Riu Vallarta!! Staff were super nice the minute we walked in. The all inclusive buffet was excellent, always plenty of options for kids and adults. We did try the Italian restaurant, delicious but took a bit to get our main course. The pools and beach were wonderful and clean. The evening entertainment was great to see after dinner, different theme every night. Overall great hotel and will definitely visit again.

We had such a good time at RIU Vallarta. We had no trouble eating at the specialty restaurants. Make sure to get up early if you want seats as a large group for the pools! They fill up quickly!

We liked the food, some of the entertainment (the dance performances mostly), and your super friendly staff. Can't emphasize that last one enough! We did not like that no pool was really available for swimming, because the ones not infested with out-of-control kids or standing drinkers was used a lot for water games. We did not appreciate the loud crowd going on till late at night.

Not one issues arose during a 9 night stay…the rooms were great, the staff excellent, the cleanliness and service fantastic! Pools were clean and warm, the beach was clean and perfect for our family. The buffet had great variety and the ala carte restaurants were good. Would definitely recommend this property.

Property was pretty well maintained, pools nice and some staff were great. Special shout-out to David, Marco (bell service) and Christian (restaurants). Unfortunately my 12year old daughter was violently sick on day 2 and my wife even worse on day 6. Both sicknesses started around 3hrs after breakfast buffet and lasted over 24hrs. Food quality overall was terrible except for Nirvana and Culinarium. I ended up taking Ubers and eating out with my family for the last 24hrs after my wife got sick as well. On day 3 I had a ridiculously confrontational interaction with Edgar from PR. My daughters wristband came off and she told me about it on the way to the the pool. I told her to go upstairs and look for it in her bed because we were told replacement is $25 if you lost it. She did find it, and we planned to take care of it at 3pm on our way up to the room. To me it was a simple fix and I really wasn't worried to the point of leaving the pool that second and rushing upstairs. Edgar, a young man from PR came down and treated us like we committed a big crime and told us we might have leave the resort. He even tried to force me into signing a "last chance" and this was the first time we had any negative interactions except asking them about a pharmacy when my daughter got sick. He got my name wrong and said I lied about it, he said my daughter was a problem the day prior although we were gone all that day. Very odd and frustrating situation.
