Just the right balance of families and adult activity. Lots of dining options and lovely pools. Ocean access was excellent and we felt safe from sun up to sunset. Easy to leave the resort and explore- no pressure to book excursions.

Have you heard the expression quality over quantity? Canto Del Sol resort definitely does not take this in consideration when filling their hotel. I feel that they have misrepresented themselves. First off we were placed in a hotel I would call an overflow as it was across the street from the hotel. It was dark and dingy as you walk down the hallway with lights burnt out. All pleasantry has now left our sight. As we open the door we see curtains not even strung on their hooks, rusted and dirty looking. As you take and open these curtains you see a 6 inch balcony with the doors held closed by two sticks on either side. There is garbage on the ground in the parking lot (it took them 3 days to clean it up despite having a garbage truck there nightly). In the light you see the bedding is smudged and dirty. The utensils in the kitchen had dusty old cob webs strewn across the utensils. Come night time 11:00 pm (this becomes our nightly serenade for the next 4 nights) loud sqealing of garbage being compacted for an hour by a garbage truck directly below us. Finally after midnight we fall asleep only to be woken at 6:00am to the leaf blower and the tour busses rolling by. They say a room isn’t everything but I’ll tell you a good sleep is! The food was so dry it was inedible or there were just empty bowls and serving dishes! I feel this place is fraudulent in what you get as opposed to what is advertised online! I’d like to have this rectified please! I do have pictures and sound.

We had a lovely time! Restaurant staff were very friendly and other staff were busy cleaning and working hard to make the place ready for so many people. The food was very nice! Front desk was slow and maybe a bit overwhelmed, and our AC air smelled moldy. It was PACKED over the holidays and we would have liked more shaded comfortable seating for reading/games and other non-swimsuit related activities! Overall a great all inclusive experience.

Perfect for culture. It felt like an authentic Mexican stay. The food was fine. Not special but exactly what you might expect if you are having breakfast at your Mom’s house. I was looking forward to the swim up pool but it turns out they don’t actually use the swim up side.

The property was excellent. The food was lovely. The front desk staff was not friendly. One staff named Brenda was the only nice staff that helped us. The cleaning staff was also very nice. The front desk needs training on how to deal with people of different cultures and languages.

Canto del Sol is dated. Our shower had a hole on the wall, there was a ceiling tile in the bathroom very lose, a very old and broken refrigerator in the kitchenette of the Mountain View studio, linens and towels were old and very thin. There was a lot of noise by our room. Food was ok, and waiters and waitresses were awesome. There were stains in the ceiling at the lobby bar, some of the walls around the hallways. The surrounding area was also very dated with a lot of tiny massage places( a bit shady).

I like the fact that the public restrooms are clean. Everything else was terrible. The room lights was really dark and the refrigerator was old with rusts visible throughout. The safe was unusable and did not open. The room service was terrible. When we requested the room to be cleaned, no one came by to clean. When we specify not to clean the room, then someone came by to clean. The cleaner did not remove the 4 dirty towels from the two bathrooms but instead hang those 4 dirty towels on the chairs. They only provided 1 new towel for each of the bathroom instead of 2 for each bathrooms. We booked a 2 bdr suit with 2 bathroom for 4ppl. When we requested additional towel at 2:30PM, we didn't get the towels until 8:30PM. That is after 2 phones call to request for the towels. All 4 ppl have bug bites all over our legs and some on our body. We have taken photos of everything that we just listed above in the review. Food options was very limited with only one line which was crowded at late night and waiting to get foods was long. Most staffs do not speak English very well or at all and asking for help was difficult. Would not come back again.

Cons: We couldn't get a baby crib on the 1st night and had to insist heavily. No way to get a decent coffee and no decaf option. Long lines for breakfast because poor setup and bad organization.

AMERICANS AVOID THIS HOTEL!!! Hotel staff and management will not help you. We paid of a 2 bedroom luxury unit. It was not luxury. It was similar to a Comfort Inn. It was in the old section of thecrssoet, far away and with a broken elevator. We paid $800 upgrade our room. The upgraded room had a bathroom that smelled of sewer gases. We filed multiple complaints with the front desk and concierge. They sent up maintenace 3 times who did nothing but just dump bleach in the toilet. For 8 days we could not use the raw sewage bathroom. The smell overwhelmed us and we smelled it in the entire unit. No follow up or help from management. Finally upon check out I asked for a credit. The guest services manager refused and just said "Sorry." He then checked with maintenance and they told him there was never a smell and basically we were lying. We are filing a complaint with Expedia. If you are an American or Canadian you need to AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Consider yourself warned.
