The location is a plus and the staff were so welcoming and help a lot with many of my inquiries, the ladies at the front desk lobby were incredible, I wish i could remember their names, Marta Rodrigues is one of them. The staff at breakfast area were like family, they knew my orders after 3 days ( i stayed a total of q5 days and will be back February 9th) Hugo, Kathia and the hostess were great, I was very happy to have breakfast each day with such a lovely team (and breakfast was good 👍). I encounter some minor issues though: like the first week I had the shower flooding constantly (room 417) then in room 221 the AC did not work 😑 and end up sleeping in such a hot room... they fix it but it kept stopping. Also, I had to use an extension cord from the bedroom to the bathroom to be able to use hair dryer...

good hotel below par food

Had a room Douro river, room is clean and housekeeping perfect 5/5. Breakfast was great Isabel is amazing always with a smile. The things that need improvement, asked for quite room high floor was give 2nd floor out of 5 and on top of a restaurant with loud music. Had room service a hamburger and it was horrible. The hotel could let guest with a car in to load and unload and not let us deal with the stress of the non parking on the busy street

We stayed here 7 years ago and loved it. We are so happy to say we still feel the same way. Our room was absolutely gorgeous. The view was amazing. It made us not want to leave our room. The morning buffet breakfast is incredible. So many choices, all fresh. We were lucky enough to meet the manager of this beautiful hotel Francisca. She is doing a fantastic job. We will be back again. Thank you Pestana Vintage Porto! We will recommend you to all our friends.

Our stay in Pestana Vintage was not what we expected. The rooms were not well cleaned and a persistent sewer odor was present throughout the hotel. The location on the Douro River, while that seems wonderful, was on an extremely noisy square with loud music and revelers well into the night. And pickpockets and beggars are everywhere. We had the unfortunate experience of being robbed while in the hotel at their newly opened wine bar. My bag was literally stolen off my chair by someone who pretended to admire the river view standing close to me. I had to insist twice for the police to be called. We were offered to file an insurance claim, but we are sure they did not submit it. They continuously asked us when was our departure, as if they couldn’t wait to get rid of us, while we warned everyone in the hotel to watch their belongings carefully. The hotel offered no compensation in any form (could have comped our wine bar bill, which had additional charges we didn’t understand but didn’t want to argue on vacation). Also, there is no vehicle access to hotel. You get dropped off or picked up at the top of a very steep hill. Don’t expect any help from the pleasant staff to assist with your bags to get to the top of the hill. I will say that the staff who greeted us were very nice, but I never saw them after the second day of our 5 day stay. We were robbed on day 3. As I said, they couldn’t wait for us to leave. The Porto police were very nice but overwhelmed with many thefts.

Good location but the large number of buskers outside competing against each other slightly impacted on the enjoyment of sitting on the terrace with a drink. Staff great. Room good size, bed comfortable and clean. Not a fan of glass walled bathroom (but there was a curtain) Good decor but older patched carpet out of place. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Info on bar opening times etc incorrect so found ourselves chasing service round hotel. However, I am being picky....we enjoyed our stay and would return. Highly recommend on site restaurant

The best Porto has to offer

Like the premier location, everything else about this hotel is first-class, from the friendly and helpful staff to the sumptuous breakfast, comfortable and spacious remodeled rooms (ours had a view over the Duoro) and multiple little lounge areas. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

needs a major update

while the location was great and the river view from our room was lovely, the inside of our room was less than desirable. The condition of the carpeting was sub par, while everything else was in basic working order, it was old and tired looking. also, the shower door was one of those 1/2 doors, so it made a mess on the floor when you showered not to mention the bathroom never really warmed up. The hotel offered a free breakfast and the food was terrible. I would rather have a few basic items done well instead of 100 different unappealing offerings, even the scrambled eggs looked terrible (how can you mess up scrambled eggs). The staff in the hotel were nice and helpful.
