A different experience this time
This was my fourth stay this season. My first three were delightful in every way. This time, I arrived before check-in time, was told my room wasn't ready (fair enough) but was told I could have a different room for more money. I took it. The thermostat didn't want to work in that room; staff very promptly turned on the heat--but then it would get warmer but not cooler unless I turned it off altogether. There was a door to an adjacent room, too, from which I could hear TV and normal-volume conversations. Eeyew. And, finally, because the room faced the outside, I was treated to really loud music at a party venue nearby until very late. I'll stay here again, but the honeymoon is over!

My daughter and I recently celebrated her birthday with a stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown, and it was magical! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our celebration special. The suite was spacious, impeccably clean, and perfectly suited for a fun and relaxing getaway. The hotel’s historic charm, combined with modern amenities, created a unique and welcoming atmosphere. My daughter especially loved the delicious made-to-order breakfast and the indoor pool, which became her favorite spot during our stay. A heartfelt thank you to the team for the thoughtful touches they added to mark her special day—it truly made the experience unforgettable. The location of this hotel is great.. close to everything you might need. However, the experience was less than ideal. The staff was not very friendly, and we arrived 1.5 hours early only to be told we could check in early for a $39 fee, which felt unreasonable. Also, the overnight parking was overpriced $59. The condition of the room was disappointing, the chair inside the room was ripped. When I requested a room change or an upgrade, I was told there were no available options, even though the hotel appeared to be quite empty. Overall, if you're prioritizing location, this is a great spot. But for the price, there are likely better options nearby with a higher level of service and better-maintained facilities.

We loved our room, and checkin/out was super easy. Of course loved the 2 comp cocktails per day, and the amazing complimentary breakfast! The restaurant is also amazing, we will definitely stay here on our next Portland trip. Walking distance to the Roseland Theatre where our concert was at.
