We just returned from our stay at Occidental Grand at Xcaret and had a great time.I'd give it 3.75-4 stars. The resort was well tended, the staff was mostly great and I would recommend it to others. The grounds were stunning and we loved being in the jungle and seeing all the wildlife. The resort was large, but not unmanageable. I loved walking everywhere but there are trams available. We only got lost the first day and after that it was very easy to navigate everywhere. Pros: -The grounds. So gorgeous. -The inlet beach area was perfect for kids and fun to snorkel and swim in without worry about current or jellyfish. -Being able to walk in and out of Xcaret park was awesome and we loved the day we spent there. -While the rooms were just standard, the beds were very comfortable and I slept very well (I'm super picky) -The pools were clean and well kept and large enough not to be packed despite the resort being busy -It was nice to have a variety of shopping areas on the resort -There was a great snorkeling spot right off the beach club breakfast area. It wasn't advertised but we were told about it and even brought our kids out to it. -The gym looked nice from outside. -The spa facilities were just average but the massages I got there were great (and again, I'm very picky). Cons: Food &Dining . I have a gluten allergy and it was tough to eat. Nothing was labeled and I got mixed messages, and options were limited. - Limited reservations for nice dining

This vacation had so many of the things I was looking for in a family spring break getaway. It is very expansive so I never felt too crowded and you could be where the action was or in a quiet environment depending on your mood. I wish there was a real beach access and better food, then it would have been perfect, but the food was subpar.

Transportation is horrible. From the airport I had to wait over 1 hour with the blazing heat. Took 2 hours to finally leave us in our location. If you don't call 48 hrs before date of departure there won't be any shuttle and hotel will not accommodate. Worst experience is when they try to snatch you for a 90 min time share presentation. I can't believe how stressed out I was. Instead of relaxing on vacation I was traumatized. Do yourself a favor and do AirBNB.

No me limpiaron el cuarto, me ignoraban por aternder al gringo, no pudieron darme una reservation para el restaurant lo pedi con horas de anticipation por el cumpleaños de mi hija #15! Una experiencia muy mala, y por lo caro que cobran dejan mucho Que decir!

Property was gorgeous, especially Beach Buffet. Animals were everywhere on the property, Iguanas, lemers, deer, monkeys, flamingos simply amazing. Only negative was the number of attempts to pull you away from family/group time with sales pitches for timeshares and other activities, calling my cell phone everyday to Inform me that I need to go confirm my airport transportation at the customer counter and more importantly attempt to sell me other items (Bit of a scam make you confirm something you already have a confirmation for on Expedia I went the day before we left which they werent happy with. Checking in is a bit mis managed took probably an hour to check in as they also attempt to get you to use customer service desk by making you believe that's the only area you can make reservations for dinner (can do right at your own building at least it seemed like every building had a concierge )again an attempt to have your ear, various sales pitches for discounts on parks Like Xel-Ha if you go listen to there time share pitch as staff receive incentives for getting families to sign up. Which luckily I checked online booked Xelha self for several hundred less then the resort will try to sell it to you for (which is why they aren't really giving you a discount to go to their sales pitch) I certainly understand they have jobs to do and the resort was worth it just some friendly advice families are trying to get away maybe try not to offer so much unless asked for information.
