Photos nothing like the room we stayed in.
Booked a room with ‘scenic view’ and receptionist even said ‘double room with a view’ when handing over the keys… which was a view of the car park.
Anyone outside probably had a better view of us in our bathroom as the blinds were curling inwards and an old piece of blue tac which lost its stick was there as there has obviously been complaints of this before.
We were also on top of the patio so didn’t get much sleep as it was quite noisy, and the bed was very small.
Old looking carpet, paint peeling and scratched walls, cobwebs hanging from light, and windows that barely stayed open when needed as the room got far too hot at times.
Price probably reflects the proximity to Blair HT, but definitely not worth the price and wouldn’t look to stay again.
Bedroom was lovely. Big bed and amazing view from the window. Breakfast was underwhelming. Not much of a choice of cereals and no porridge. Cooked food not that warm and poor choice of pastries
Save yourself a disappointing time. Don’t go. The Hydro is a shadow of its former glory days. The whole place is tired, worn, grubby and disappointing.
The bed was soft in the middle, so we had a night closer together than we intended.
There are no USB sockets.
The windows in the room were single glazed, jammed open because of broken sash cords.
There was no safety instructions in the room in the event of a fire or similar.
The tiny lift, which claimed to hold 6 (maybe 6 very skinny close friends) was amazingly slow and the after market fitted emergency light did not inspire confidence.
The carpets in the public area are amazing - for their mismatched dated patterns. They induced a bought of vertigo when I walked down the very uneven stairs.
The corridors were the most uneven I have experienced. It was like that old funfair ride.
The entire place was grubby. No one seemed to pay attention to the details that make a difference. There was dust on the skirting boards, rust in the bathroom sink and a shower that sort of threatened to maybe get you washed. If you had time to wait.
There were hints of the grandeur that once typified the hotel, but these are few and far between and will soon be snuffed out.
The facade is impressive, the interior is not.
Good location, nice old hotel full of character, very clean and spacious rooms, very helpful staff , excellent choice of food for breakfast. Bathrooms could do with a bit of modernization, but still clean and functional. Would definitely stay again .
Location was great , Pitlochry is a beautiful place to visit though the standard of this hotel very poor requires updating , rooms require decorating , breakfast was good , though dinner selection and quality really poor.
I wouldn’t return unless the hotel had a full refurbishment and the bar food looked far superior to the restaurant food .
