Fantastic place definitely recommend
It was amazing would stay again. Staff looked after us especially me as a wheelchair user. Breakfast was in a room with steps going into it. My route was by the basement got some fantastic info from the staff about what the hotel was previously used for. They have a museum which was not open when we went. But staff filled us in with intresting knowledge.

Was good, liked it. Miles better than the Dunalastair hotel suites!!! Dunalastair Hotel Suites was where we were booked to stay. Turned out to be a scam - no better than a travel lodge - uncaring unhelpful dishonest staff! You have been warned! Glad myself and my family left 10 min after realising what we had got ourselves into and stayed at the Atholl Palace instead!

Stunning hotel in beautiful grounds. Real fires, comfortable lounges with lovely views, a great bar with friendly and helpful staff, delicious food - didn't get to try the spa but it looked lovely (next time). Would definitely like to spend longer here.

We were given a room with a wet bathroom. There were no mats or anything to walk on.Husband fell and broke his arm had to ask twice to have an ambulance called. Prior to that the food is overpriced and poor quality. To get to our room we had to walk through the restaurant with our bags and no help to figure out where the room was. Luckily the waitresses were nice and helped us out.

Good but in need of a facelift
The hotel is very grand upon arrival, the staff are helpful and welcoming. The breakfast is superb and one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had - lots of options, both healthy and unhealthy. I would say, however, that the rooms are in need of an upgrade. The bathroom I had was quite dated and a shower curtain was used which felt unhygienic. There was also no toilet lid too. Overall an okay stay but I would look to upgrade to a different room next time

We’ve stayed several times and have also enjoyed the grandeur and the history of the Victorian hotel. This time we stayed in a Superior Room on the top floor with a view along the valley. The room was spacious and warm. The super king sized bed was very comfortable. The bathroom looked to have been recently renovated. Plenty of choice at breakfast, and all very tasty. We particularly enjoyed relaxing in front of one of the many open fires dotted around the ground floor.

We had waited 40 years to return to Athol Palace Hotel. Reception was friendly and informative. The grounds are amazing and the map provided allows for easy navigation. The pitch n putt definitely neededa mow. Paige in The Stags Head, bar and restaurant, was wonderful. Always engaging well with diners. Laura in the main restaurant for breakfast was friendly and helpful. The meals were excellent. As for the other staff we found them quite rude at times, which put a real dampener on our trip as customer service is important to us when travelling. We were often ignored and not made feel welcome. Don't ask for a bathrobe to go to the day spa. After asking reception 3 times with no receipt of robes, we made our way to the spa and pool. Lovely facility but the staff there were quite rude when I asked if I could get robes. After nearly 3 hrs waiting including our swim n spa our robes had been delivered to our room. Too late. All reception had to say was that they were really short on housekeeping stafff and it could be sometime before they would arrive instead of telling us 3 times that they would be sent up straight away. I know it might seem petty, but we had had a huge drive and wanted to relax at the spa and have a snooze before going to dinner. Customer service certainly needs to be addressed to enhance the beauty of this magical hotel.

The Athol Palace is truly a gem. The Palace itself is preserved well with minor cosmetic repairs noted. The grounds are lovely and a short walk to town is a must. The swimming pool, hot tub and steam were enjoyed but the sauna not working. The gym was small but workable. The “cozy” double was small but still sufficient. The dining room, bar and common area were all comfortable. The food was average. I stayed on a weekend. There were weddings going on all weekend. I feel the staff was overwhelmed and there was not enough help.

This palace is up on a hill and driving up to it took my breath away. Pitlockry is a quaint little town and Atholl is the "Queen" of the quaintness. The building and grounds are exceptional. Be sure to walk all of the grounds and take in the unique gardens and tree lined trails into town and the backside along the creek. A memorable place to stay!
