Civic Center parking and walkway a plus!
We booked a room for a comedy event we were attending. Happy suprise when we got to our hotel, it has a walkway directly to the Peoria Civic Center (where our event was being held). This avoided a parking fee or uber to get to the event. Hotel does charge $15 for parking, but other parking there for event would have cost us $25. All good. One thing to know, if you want to use room service, use the room service button on the phone. We tried to get room service at 10:00 pm and was told by front desk that it was closed. We found out the next a.m. that front desk does not know squat about room service and that it actually comes from the hotel next door. So we had no diner. But all else great.

This place was beautiful, but such a joke. There was never hot water for showers. Room service wasnt even a thing, they have a food menu in the room, but when you order they ask you to pick it up in the other hotel. When we went downstairs, they never even made out food! The buffet was a joke, you are paying $18 for a breakfast buffet that is equivalent to a free breakfast at other hotels.

The most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Room and common areas were clean. My only complaint is that there was only one person working in the restaurant at breakfast which made for long wait times and slow service

Disappointed hot tub was broken. Staff was nice. Restaurant - dinner,could not get a napkin with all 3 silverware in it, and as a steakhouse should always have steak knives not butter or regular knives for dinner. Food was fine but some entries confusing with different prices and what is included. As for breakfast, much better. Beffet that won't cost over $100, make your own waffles with waffle maker. Room was slightly cold, despite fan being always on. Hallway was even colder, and you can tell there was a heating issue as space heaters were scattered all over Lobby. Came for the Muppets exhibit at the Riverfront Museum. One last thing. Although it almost seemed we were the only guests, upon checkout on a Tuesday we were surprised to see police in lobby with a woman who apparently lost something. Checkout was fast.

This is a wonderful property. A classic architectual gem meets modernity. I read some of the negative comments and was baffled. Ticky-tack travelers who like to whine I assume. For the price, you will not find elegance and superb service like this anywhere in the country. Kudos to all at the Pere. Thank you.

Overall, the hotel was very nice. They need to improve their elevators. The hotel was busy and the elevators are so slow. After waiting 15 minutes with a large number of other guests, we wound up walking up 7 floors to our room with luggage. Certainly not the greatest of accommodations.
