Holiday inn... Not express
Overall the hotel was nice. A bit confusing if you are not aware the Holiday inn Express is next door. Entry could be improved with better signage or something. It's always easy once you know where you're going. Staff or attentive with no complaints on that. The room amenities are sufficient. It does have a bar in the lobby. Overall it was an okay stopping point .

When I got there they were nice enough to let me into my room early. I immediately took off my shoes to my brand new white socks which became dirty within minutes of walking on the carpet. I put my nightgown on because I had a very rough trip and was exhausted and opened my door and asked the one lady who seemed to be in charge of cleaning if she could get me 2 extra pillows. She said it would be 10 min because she was busy. I said as long as I had them when I fell asleep that evening it was fine. I never received the pillows. I called downstairs later and they asked that I come down and get them but I was in my nightgown so I told them I could not. I was just too exhausted. I'm a big woman and even on a harder mattress I make a dent when I lay down, but this was probably the hardest mattress ever, like sleeping on a board. When I finally got up after a pretty lousy sleep, I was in so much pain I could stand up straight. I had to sit on the couch, which was very comfy, for about an hour before I could walk again. I did mention this to the front desk. I probably should have slept on the couch. The complimentary breakfast was very good, a true breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage. grits, etc. etc. Good choice of juices as well. For the price. I expected a bit more.

The room was what you would expect from Holiday Inn, clean and comfortable. However what we did not realize was that breakfast was not included. They wanted to charge $12.99 per person for what appeared to be a basic continental breakfast at other hotels. Needless to say, we passed on the breakfast.

Room had a very strong cleaning product when entering room and floors were very slippery. Also had a musty smell after cleaning smell. Clerk was rude as she was talking to a friend while checking us in. Will not stay at another Holiday Inn in the future if no changes made.
