The location was excellent as it was right across the street from the train station and the subway station. Because of the location, you could hear the trains so that was a bit of a downfall. But being so close to the station outweighed the train noise. I’m just super sensitive to sound.

The hotel is aged. The room smelt heavily of carpet cleaning product, and despite keeping the windows open for the vast majority of the time, the smell was there. The size of the room was small, and that was okay had there been adequate storage to hang clothes. The hotel is well located, albeit the entrance always had miscreants or homeless people by the door. Not something the hotel can actively control on its own; but it’s a poor entrance. The receptionists are good. A solid 10/10. A chap called Jacob,I believe, couldn’t have done more for us. He was really efficient and smiley. As were the rest of the crew. They made up for the lacklustre of the hotel. The hotel is well situated. Needs renovation urgently.

This was my third time staying with my family at Le grand Hotel de Normandie. I love the hotel. It's close to everything. A short walk to les Grands Boulevards and Magazines. 10 min to the Opera. 10 min to the Madeleine. It is in a shopping area, nice atmosphere all over the day and in the evenings. Brasseries and cafes are always busy, terraces packed with people having a meal, a drink or a coffee and connecting with one another. This has changed a lot in the last few years. I noticed Paris is getting more of a Madrid's kind of nightlife. Very fun, warm and welcoming. Loved to see groups of people just celebrating life around a fresh homemade meal or a nice French wine. Having Gare de Saint Lazare station across the street means it's always busy but in a nice way, as people are always entering and leaving the station. Very safe area. There is a Carrefour in the station, which is convenient to buy some water or food you might want to keep at the hotel. The hotel is very well communicated. There are several Metro and RER (train) stations close to the hotel: Saint Lazare, Hauvre-Chaumartin, Auber... and you can move really fast across Paris. Staff at the hotel are very friendly. Ali, at the front desk, has helped us the three times we stayed, and always goes the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need. I will definitely come back to Le Grand Hotel de Normandie, hopefully very soon.

Whatever option will be better

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever been. The room vibrates when the subway passes. Everything is old and looks dirty, the street looks dangerous: when you go out of the hotel you have next to the door on the left 1 homeless peeing in the street and on the right a group of 5-7 man drinking and dealing… I will never come back to this hotel

This was our first trip to Paris and this hotel was just what we were looking for. It was clean and convenient to The Louve, Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. Also had good food and shopping nearby. Train station was just a few minutes walk from the hotel. I would highly recommend Le Grande Hotel de Normandie.
