My room was smelling like sewer. I complained about it everyday to three different people but no one took care of it. Everyday we would come back and room is still smelling. All they did was ran hot water, sprayed room freshener and opened sliding door. One day they even left the sliding door open for all the day without thinking about our safety that what if someone can just come in or steal our stuff. This is not a 4 star hotel. This is not the service you expect from 4 star hotel where you are paying more than $400 per room night. It was very disappointing and horrible experience. I book hotels on Expedia based on the raying given but this was definitely not a 9.4 star rating hotel. Very very disappointed!!!!

This was our second stay at La Playa. It was fantastic as usual! The staff is exceptional and the resort is beautiful. It’s laidback and relaxing. The bartender GP is amazing. We love him!! Thanks GP, Carlos, and Alexandra. It was great to see u all again! We will definitely be back!

Staying at La Playa was a luxury vacation without being over the top (simple elegance). Everything has been very well thought out - towel service, walkability to village for dinner/market, loungers at the beach, beautiful pool space, kitchenette in the room, breakfast by the beach, and the concierge team was helpful with every question we had. We had a wonderful vacation there.

Loved La Playa!

La Playa Orient Bay was excellent. It was clean, comfortable, perfectly located on the beach and near the restaurants, and the staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommended and we'll be back again.

Beach is beautiful. Facilities were clean. More like a Florida condo than being on Saint Martin in this hotel and orient bay overall.

The property was within extremely close walking distance to many restaurants and a few grocery/convenient stores. I wish there were some stores for clothing and souvenirs but we ended getting that at the airport on our way back. The hotel is right on the beach, which is the best beach on the island! The beach in front of La Playa is also one of the less crowded areas. We walked most of the orient beach and other areas are crowed and/or full of seaweed. The staff here are all very friendly and helpful. We took a taxi to the Dutch side a couple of times which was $40 (kinda pricey in my opinion!) the hotel called for us each time. Takes about 30 mins when there is no traffic, ask the front desk for the best times. I would recommend La Playa to everyone!!! Very quiet and beautiful!!

The only real positive was the proximity to the beach, but even that was tainted by the lackluster service at both the beach and restaurant. I later learned the attendants and staff aren’t employed by the hotel, which explains the dismissive attitude, they seemed to treat hotel guests with a certain contempt, clearly prioritizing cruise ship passengers and outside chair rentals, or regulars, which appear to be their main source of revenue. As a hotel guest, you’re an afterthought. It left a bad taste in my mouth. The price simply doesn’t match the service or accommodations, and I wouldn’t stay here again, though I might return to rent beach chairs while staying elsewhere nearby.

Over all good experience. Improvements needed: thicker bath towels, face towels need to be provided, hair conditioner needs to be added, and double the water for the room. They are skimping on things that are not that expensive based on the cost of the rooms. Beach experience was great with good customer service.
