This was my least enjoyable stay at the Riu Ocho Rios. The positives were the restaurant and bar staff. The negatives - I found the front desk less than helpful, and I noticed that unsightly spills / garbage was not promptly removed. We actually struggled to reach someone to clear a clogged toilet in our room. This happened 2 days in a row. Hoping they improve these sore points.

The hotel is beautiful and the entertainment is amazing. However, I got married there on August 13, 2024 and our room was flooded the next day. We weren’t offered another room, my clothes were soaked in my suitcase and my wedding dress hanging over my suitcase was soaked with toilet water. The hotel took no responsibility. They told us to take it up with the third party we got the room through. I asked them to clean my dress and they refused. I had to walk around in my swimsuit and cover up until my clothes were washed. I was a very frustrating experience. My husband and I wanted to put our wedding attire back on to take professional photographers in the town and we could not not have done so. Janeelihenry

i liked being able to eat all thru the day and night. i would suggest upgrading the snacks. i did not like the fact the pool close too early. you can keep one pool open until ten at night. your wait staff could be a little more informative about the drinks thats available and offer some suggestions. hotels should offer some excursions deals with better prices. although RIU was not totally responsible for the excursions it would improve the vacations if we were not treated as A.T.M. machines

The snorkeling from the beach was amazing! Unfortunately, they only had eight snorkel and masks for 500 people so getting a mask is often difficult. The constant loud music was very annoying. I was looking for a little quiet beach time and found it difficult to find a quiet area. It was like I was on spring break! Some of the staff were incredible and very friendly and others couldn’t give a shi⁉️. I will not be going back to this resort in Jamaica.

No internet services and entainment was poor. Activities for teen and for young children were none. Communicatiin to the guest was terrible and the Riu App was not user friendly and discreption was vague and not informative.

The rooms are not what you think you are getting. I ordered 2 queen beds but their booking is based upon availability so since I brought my 2 daughters they placed us in the garden facing a fence or the surrounding garden and a King bed and a sofa sleeper that was turned into a bed.

Overall, I had a great experience at Riu. The one area in need of improvement is the check-in process. Upon arrival we waiting on line a hour and half to get to your represenative and another half-hour to check in our group. It gives a bad first impression to guest. Fortunately, I've stayed at Riu before, so that experience, although annoying, didn't impact my impression of Riu.
