This hotel belongs in the 1970’s as it has not moved beyond that.
The only thing positive about this hotel is the location, especially when you have booked a sea view room.
It is old, dated and the hotel should feel embarrassed charging what they charge for rooms. I’ve seen many reviews since I stayed here so they should be very aware of the feedback they receive. Never ever again will I stay here.
We booked 3 rooms for a family wedding. Checked in by a lovely lady at reception.
Rooms were dated but clean enough.
The next morning we reported at 8.30am that none of us had any hot water. We were told an engineer would be half an hour. We explained we had a wedding today so needed it to be sorted. Went for breakfast (not great) . An hour later we were told he was on his way so we took the dogs out and asked if still no hot water in our rooms, could they please give us a room to use.
Came back , no hot water or room available. No clue of when the engineer/plumber may turn up. So we all had cold showers, not fun when you have long hair to wash. Got ready for the wedding and started to leave. Where we were informed the plumber had finally turned up! 6 hours after we reported it.
The most frustrating thing was being told he was half an hour away, to he’s on his way, to we haven’t got a clue. The manager didn’t seem to care we had a wedding to get too!
We understand that things go wrong- ie the fire alarm going off twice in the night and the boiler breaking. But a quicker back up plan should be in place for a hotel that size.
On departure there was another couple reporting they had no hot water….
Room not ready at 16:00. 17:30 given key and previous guests laundry on the floor in the middle of the room.
Receptionist came down 10 mins later into the bar area with sheets tucked under her arm. “That’s you eh”. Not a word of apology or even an offer of a drink on the house.
Very expensive for somewhere that is really a coach tour venue. Breakfast well below average quality wise.
Do they care? They do not. Plenty more coming along after us.
Stay again. Not at those prices.

Good location close to town centre. Pleasant, helpful staff. En suite bathroom was in poor condition and requires renewing.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
What was probably a grand hotel isnt anymore. Attempts to upgrade have been executed in an amateur fashion. The hotel is in a prime position, with a wonderful outlook, staff all were ok. Just a shame such a grand building has been allowed to get in such poor condition!
Shocking. Hotel is barely in working condition. In desperate need of a renovation. Room had flickering lights and random switches that did nothing. Lamps didn’t work.
At 0130 woken by a faulty fire alarm.. again at 0230. We left at 0235.. I’ll be requesting a refund.

Disliked: Cleanliness
This hotel is in a great location. It is a big building with spacious rooms. The cleanliness of my room was poor. Thick dust on skirting boards. The bathroom was grimy. Shower door hanging off and the vent. Walls are paper thin. You can hear the conversations from others in the next rooms including their snoring.

Property was clean, needed a little decorating and updating, rooms were quite small. Breakfast was good, some of the staff were a bit scruffy
The hotel was rundown with peeling paint, spots on the carpets, and just dingy. A draft beer was 12 pound 80. Very overpriced!
Past midnight we awoke to a fire alarm and had to evacuate. The fire department wasn't called. Just told to go back to bed after we tracked down an employee. Very unsettling and unsafe! We do not recommend!
The common lounge to the front of the building had been poorly repainted around skirtings/windows and gave a very "tired" feel, not professional. This was continued into our room which had a 70's decor, poor and rotten paintwork around the bathroom windows with mould evident and wall tiles missing. There's more I could add but suffice to say, my first and last stay - thankfully only one night.
The view from our room was fantastic the room was very spacious, food was delicious and very large portions
Staff are so friendly ,hotel needs a little updating but is fine, the bar and dinning area have an amazing view ,would definitely go back .

It was like a maze very outdated thou bed was good
It was a great stay here. The beds are really comfortable and the rooms very spacious. We had a sea view which was lovely to wake up to. The staff were brilliant, friendly and very helpful. Only downside was the shower was always cold. The staff tried to fix the pressure right away. However, everything else was great
Nice place to stay at, very happy that it was dog friendly. All i would say is that if the windows were updated and the bed was slightly bigger then i would have rated higher. I will be back though.
