Pleasant spot with a small pool and a short walk to the central square. The room we got had a double bed which felt small. Nowhere close to the hotel a dog bit my leg, which I mention only because when I went to the hospital on Sunday the doctor treated me immediately and charged me $38. No waiting, no fuss, no paperwork. What a contrast to Canada and the USA!

Oaxaca's Best-Kept Secret

This is my hotel of choice when I visit Oaxaca, and I'm afraid the secret is getting out. The oasis-like environment near the bustling Santo Domingo and Zocalo sites invites rest and relaxation.

This is my third visit to this hotel. Last was at least 5 year ago. Many upgrades. My only issue was breakfast. When it was in the old location there was a community table where we met many people and made long term friends. Now, with separate tables only it's harder to meet people. I recommend a community table. There's room!

Good little hotel

Nice hotel, good location and good value. The pool is great for a sunbathe and cool down. Breakfast made to order is included which is great, it’s just a bit strange they make you clear away your own plates when you’ve finished. If you don’t they will let you know!

Nice hotel, bad room

The room was just like the picture, facing the pool area. What the picture didn't show was the room was and had no window to the outside. In fact its location, right at the beginning of all traffic to the other rooms made privacy difficult without keeping the poolside door closed. All of this after having paid the premium price for a pool side room. Were i to go back, save the money anf get a second floor room overlooking the pool but with windows and little traffic. Only other comment was the breakfast was just ok, not really worth it. All that being said, its a pretty place, excellent location, safe offstreet parking and pleasant staff. With a differemt room, i'd probably come back.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The location was excellent for walking everywhere. Staff friendly, great breakfasts included, The room was not large, but clean and comfortable. Lovely small pool to chill out around. Would be even greater if there was a coffee maker in the room!

Beautiful colonial type hotel conveniently locate.

We loved our stay at Casa de La Tia Tere!! It was beautiful especially the gardens and pool area. Pool was heated, a bonus when the evenings are a bit chilly. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was large and well appointed. The location is a bit out of the main centre but definitely within walking distance to downtown for anyone that can walk a few blocks. We will definitely return on our next trip to beautiful Oaxaca!!

This is a nice place, we felt safe and reasonably comfortable. During our visit, we had multiple reservations and multiple rooms. Not all beds are created equal. One other area, their morning breakfast service needs some attention to quality. My immediate family has high standards/expectations, even in Oaxaca.

Loved location 10 minute walk to downtown, hotel is quiet and clean and spacious rooms. Did not like the beds the mattress was very firm to sleep for 7 nights ended up with soar/tender hips from such a hard mattress . The breakfast that was included was very bad staying at a state that is known for its food the hotel failed to show this. You could tell that canned salsa was used for the chilaquiles and the French toast used basic sandwich bread and were very tiny for an adult only two no bacon. Overall breakfast was very limited. Staff was polite but seems that owners focus on cost saving rather than guest experience. Won’t be returning to this hotel.

This place was extremely helpful with early arrivals and arrangements for transportation. The pool is very clean and peaceful , definitely a highlight of the property. I will most definitely be coming back to stay on my next visit to Oaxaca.

The pool area was pleasant looking, but my bed was too hard for me. Very, very noisy early in the morning. After two sleepless nights I changed hotels. 20 minute walk from where most tour groups pick you up, the location was not very convenient, or close to the areas I was interested in. No reception after 11:00. The area surrounding the hotel probably looks more unsafe than it is, I did walk alone at night to find something to eat. Room was clean, but the windows were dirty. Rather depressing. Unpleasant exchange with the staff over my request to change rooms for a softer bed. Preferred to lose my money and check out rather than have the hard bed and the unpleasant staff ruin my entire vacation.

Lovely property within walking distance to center and neighborhoods. Enjoyed the pool area and the breakfast on the terrace daily. Only negative is the mattresses are hard…like sleeping on the ground hard. They gave me an extra blanket folded in half to go under the sheets and that solved the problem. I felt guilty letting the shower run a few minutes to get hot knowing there is a water shortage. Housekeeping excellent. Would stay again.

The property was nice and well kept. There are no elevators and some of the stairs were a bit steep. Both men at reception we dealt with were very polite, helpful and informative. The housekeeper was sweet and attentive. The breakfast was a variety of two eggs and beans every morning, nothing too exciting. My only complaint of the place is the kitchen staff openly talking about hotel guest. A younger gentleman especially… he would talk about people’s outfits and make fun of their accents and mock/ mimick them. It was very unprofessional and rude. Other than the unpleasant kitchen staff, everyone else was great.

The place is well located, the pool is great, and the whole place has a cool 70s vibe. Staff is very accommodating. Only issues: pillows are too thick and hard, and free breakfast tended to be overcooked and dry.

Good Value in Oaxaca

This hotel is clean, safe and in a good location. Walkable from the bus station and far enough away from the very centre of the city but a short safe walk. Breakfast is adequate and served on a lovely terrace. The common areas and pool are nice. I think it provides good value. My only negative comment is that the front desk staff are not very friendly. They are polite, but not overly helpful. One wonders why they are working in the hospitality sector.
